The Bestek high-speed blender is a powerful blender designed to tackle a range of food from minced salsas to creamy milkshakes or even crushed ice.

With a 2 liter capacity, the Bestek blender is suitable for large and small quantities.

What’s to like?

  • Large 2 liter capacity
  • 100% BPA free plastic jub
  • Excellent sealed lid (so no spills out the top)
  • 3 blend speeds as well as specialty modes for smoothies, crushed ice, and desserts

What’s not so good?

  • Has a hard time dealing with large frozen fruit (didn’t do a great job of frozen strawberries)

Bestek Blender Design

The base of the Bestek blender is coated with a non-slip mat for slip-resistance while blending. The body of the blender has a bold red aesthetic with black accents for the control panel.

Bestek blender controls

Different controls you can choose from include:

  • Pulse
  • Low speed
  • Medium speed
  • High speed
  • Desserts
  • Smoothies
  • Ice

Above those control panel sits the housing pad which gives the blender jug a secure place to sit. The Bestek blender uses a 6 piece metal blade.

What about the jug?

The jug itself is made from 100% BPA free plastic and is topped with a silicone seal and rubberized lid.

Bestek blender plastic jug

I would prefer if it were a glass jug, but as far as plastics go, the jug does seem to be well made and reasonably thick.

Like other blenders, there is a removable clear plastic cap at the top that can be removed and used to measure and add liquid during the blending process.

What can it blend?

The Bestek blender is designed to tackle a wide range of foods and liquids. You can use this blender to:

  • Blend smoothies, milkshakes, and soups
  • Whip sorbets and other creamy desserts
  • Grind coffee, nut butters, and grains
  • Mix salsas, jams and sauces
  • Juice fruits and vegetables
  • Crush ice and frozen fruits

Using the Bestek Blender

The Bestek high-speed blender is easy to use. I simply unboxed it, washed it out before first use, plugged it in and I was good to go.

The controls are intuitive and easy to adjust as needed.

Performance

To test the blending power of this Bestek high-speed blender we put it to the test against some of the most difficult foods to blend.

The Ice Test

First off, we did a simple ice test. Bestek claims that ice is no trouble for this blender. It even has a button dedicated just for ice, but we were curious how small the blender could pulverize full size ice cubes.

For this test, we filled the blender to half capacity with full size ice cubes. Finally, we turned the blender on “ice mode” and let it work.

The Results?

The Bestek blender actually did much better than I expected. Crushing ice is one of the biggest challenges for any blender.

I used the ice mode on the blender, which is an automated high RPM pulse cycle. It wasn’t 100% hands-free, as I did need to shake up the ice every couple of cycles to help get un-crushed ice down to the bottom.

That said, within just a couple of minutes it was able to sufficiently crush half a jug full of ice (see picture above).

The Frozen Fruit Test

For the second test, we filled the blender jug to half capacity with frozen fruit.

Bestek blender vs. frozen strawberries

The results?

The Bestek did an okay job at dealing with frozen solid strawberries.

It managed to crush about half of the strawberries fairly quickly, but it couldn’t do much more than that.

For the Bestek blender to finish the job I had to help it along by varying blend modes, adding juice / yogurt, and frequently stopping to stir the contents with a spoon.

Blending frozen solid fruit is perhaps the most difficult task any blender could meet. As a result, I wasn’t terribly surprised by the performance.

Once the blender managed to break up all of the solid strawberries the actual blending was a piece of cake. If you do plan to make smoothies I would suggest thawing the fruit a bit before hand (or using fresh fruit).

Bestek Blender Specs

Should you buy the Bestek Blender?

So overall, is the Bestek blender the one for you?

It’s a high-speed blender with 6 blades and the power to spin at up to 30,000 RPM. Whether you’re looking for something for quick smoothies or something more challenging, like crushing ice, the Bestek can handle it.

I would recommend the Bestek high-speed blender to people who:

  • Want a large capacity blender: The Bestek blender has a jug capacity of up to 2 liters, making it easier to accommodate large or smaller batches.
  • Want easy maintenance: This blender is also pretty easy to maintain. The manufacturer recommends filling the jug with water, adding a drop of liquid dish soap and turning the blender on for about 30 seconds, or more depending on the mess.
  • Want pretty good performance: The Bestek blender did better than expected at crushing / blending ice, and did reasonably well at dealing with large frozen strawberries. The performance level didn’t blow me away, but given the price I’d say it’s still good.

Summary

The Bestek blender is a solid product at a reasonable price. During our tests it did a nice job of dealing with ice and a decent job of blending frozen fruit. The controls and buttons are intuitive and easy to use. The seal on the lid is thick and well sealed (helps reduce spills). Overall, I wasn’t blown away, but it’s still an above average blender that I could see keeping in my kitchen.
