Budget Robot Vacuum

Coredy R500+
The Coredy R500 is a robot vacuum that offers a simple design with a strong cleaning performance. This vacuum has a low profile, meaning it has the ability to slide under furniture with ease as well as maneuver around other obstacles in your home. Additionally, users also have the ability to control this robot vacuum with a remote. The Coredy R500 has a long 120 minute run time and is a good budget choice within the $$ price tier.Check PricePros
- The Coredy robot vacuum is a strong performer on all indoor floor types
- Long run time and multiple ways to use the vacuum make for a convenient option
Cons
- The Coredy R500 had slight struggles on carpeted surfaces with finer debris types.
- This vacuum did not get into the corners well enough to collect the debris that had been flung into the corners.
Coredy R500 Robot Vacuum Design
The design of the Coredy R500 robot vacuum is simple, yet sophisticated. There is not a lot going on with the overall design of the vacuum, but it is an effective build.
What’s on the top of the vacuum?
The top of the Coredy R500 contains:
- Power button
- Home button

While the top of the vacuum doesn’t contain a lot, the bottom has a bit more to offer:
- Multi-surface brushroll
- Two spinning brushes
- Three wheels
- Power switch
- Dustbin
- Battery compartment

Coredy R500 Aesthetics
The Coredy does offer a nice aesthetic that is a bit more off of the cuff compared to most other robot vacuums.
Instead of the traditional all black color scheme, the Coredy R500 contains a blue and black color scheme in addition to an all white logo embossed to the top of the unit.
How does the Coredy R500 robot vacuum work?
As with all robot vacuums, the Coredy R500 robot vacuum works by driving around your home in search of dirt and debris to vacuum up. There is no special method to the madness for this specific model.
That said, the Coredy does have the ability to detect walls and obstacles in its path as well as ledges.
By detecting these things during a cleaning cycle the vacuum can avoid bumping into things or driving off of a ledge, such as stairs.
Size & Dimensions
The Coredy R500 is a touch smaller than most robot vacuums, with regard to the height. The diameter and weight are similar to most other robot vacuums.
How big is the vacuum?
- 12.6” wide
- 2.8” tall
- 9.45 lbs.

With a circular build, this vacuum is designed and sized much like the rest of the robot vacuums in the industry.
Accessories and Parts
When it comes to extra parts and accessories, the R500 includes the following:

FILTER | The Coredy R500 includes an extra HEPA filter in addition to the one that is already placed in the vacuum.

REMOTE | A remote is also included with the R500. The remote allows users to control the vacuum without ever having to touch it.

SPINNING BRUSH | Four total spinning brushes come with the Coredy robot vacuum. Two of them can be put on the vacuum right away and the other two can be used when the original two brushes are worn down.

CHARGER | A standard charging base is also included with the Coredy. The robot vacuum can drive onto the base and charge itself when necessary.
Coredy R500 Features
The Coredy R500 robot vacuum does not have a ton of features, but it is right in line with most robot vacuums.
Remote Control
With this robot vacuum, users have the option of pressing buttons directly on the unit itself to operate it or using the remote control included with the vacuum.
The remote allows users to control the exact movement of the Coredy, as well as set a schedule and place it in more specific cleaning modes. By using the remote, the vacuum can be a completely hands-free cleaning system.

Scheduling
One of the neat features associated with the Coredy is the ability to set a cleaning schedule. For example, the vacuum can be set to clean your home every day at 12:00pm sharp.
Without you even having to touch the vacuum, it will drive off of its charging base and begin cleaning once the clock strikes 12:00pm.

By setting up a cleaning schedule, it takes the guesswork out of the equation. Users are able to come home every day, or on the days you set the schedule for, to a cleaner home.
Cleaning Performance
The cleaning performance of the Coredy R500 was about average. There were a few bumps along the way, but they were not drastic.

Hardwood Floor Cleaning
The Coredy R500 robot vacuum performed quite well on hardwood floors.
Results:
All four debris types were cleaned with ease by the R500. The spinning brush of the Coredy did have a tendency to fling the debris around our testing lane, but the vacuum was able to move around and pick up the debris it flung around.

Sugar was the toughest test against the Coredy on the hardwood floors, but it was still able to remove 98% of the sugar from the flooring.

Low Pile Carpet Cleaning
Performance on the low pile carpet was similar to the hardwood floors, with the exception of the sugar test.
What was the difference?
Rice, kitty litter, and cereal were no problem for the Coredy R500 robot vacuum, but the sugar was a bit more difficult for the vacuum to handle.

As a finer debris type, the sugar fell into the pile of the carpet and became more difficult for the vacuum to suck up. After the vacuum completed it’s cleaning cycle, we found that it was able to clean up 50% of the sugar from the low pile carpet.

High Pile Carpet Cleaning
The high pile carpet tests was the lowest grade performance test that we saw from the Coredy R500.
What were the final results?
Once again, rice and cereal were no match for the Coredy robot vacuum.

On the other hand, the kitty litter and sugar tests were much more of an issue than on the low pile and hardwood floor tests.
Kitty litter was cleaned up to a level of 84%, but the 16% remaining in the carpet was buried deep into the thicker pile.
With regard to the sugar, the Coredy struggled to provide a deep enough level of suction into the pile of the carpet.
Therefore, only 42% of the sugar was removed from the carpet.

Usability & Maneuverability
Usability and maneuverability for the Coredy R500 robot vacuum are both great.First things first, how do you use the Coredy R500Using this robot vacuum is simple:
- Charge the vacuum
- Turn it on using the remote or buttons on the vacuum
- Let it roam your home and do the cleaning for you
Before using the vacuum you do have to pop in the spinning brushes and charge the vacuum, but that is virtually all of the set up required before using the R500.

Controlling the Manueverability
It does not get any easier than maneuevering around the Coredy R500. As a robot vacuum, the R500 drives itself around your home in search of dirt and debris.

This specific model does not have a mapping feature, so it will not memorize your floor plan. Yet, it does have a 2 hour run time, meaning it will provide a thorough clean throughout your house for a long period of time.

Removing and Emptying the Dustbin
Both of these tasks are also easy to complete. To remove the dustbin you simply pinch down on the latch locted along the perimeter of the vacuum and pull the dustbin out.

From there, you can open up the dustbin by squeezing the two tabs on the top of the dustbin and lifting up the lid of the bin. This is also where you will have access to the filter.
Coredy R500 Maintenance
Maintaining the Coredy R500 robot vacuum is quick and painless.
The following needs to be done to maintain the vacuum properly:
- Change the filter
- Clear brushroll from tangles
- Empty dustbin

The value of the Coredy is okay. Yes, there are definite performance limitiations, but it’s also a fairly inexpensive product.

From the performance persepctive, the Coredy was able to clean up most easy debris without issue. Although there were some hiccups along the way, the Coredy was able to perform at an average or slightly above average level.
With regard to maintenance, the Coredy does not need a lot of care. The filter needs to be changed periodically and the brushroll needs to be de-tangled of hairs or strings. Aside from these factors, the Coredy is easy to maintain.

Why did the Coredy robot vacuum score the way it did?
- Design – Fairly standard and basic design. Nothing bad, just nothing really standing out either.
- Performance – Excellent hardwood performance with okay performance on low and high pile carpets.
- Quality – Not amazing, but not bad either. About what I’d expect for this price point. I will be interested to see how it does over time.
- Usability – Like most robots, fairly good usability. Plug it in, turn it on, and it does the rest.
- Value – I definitely like the price point, but the cleaning performance leaves something to be desired (as does the lack of wifi connectivity)

My dust bin won’t stay closed, otherwise I love it.
Hrm…that’s annoying. Have you reached out to their customer support? If it’s within warranty they should just send you a replacement.
My coredy r500 has been used less than 20 times. The unit cannot find its way back to charging station. Have contacted service 6 times and no help. I believe it is a control issue, possibly control board. I have been an appliance service tech for 15 years and would not recommend this product.
I’m sorry to hear about your experience, David. That is indeed very frustrating.
If you’ve only used it 20 days you may still be within a refund period depending on where your purchasing it. That’s what I would suggest.
How can I change the suction power from high to low and vice versa?
I’m not sure that is a feature that is offered. If it is, it will be via the Coredy app.
My advice to anyone thinking of purchasing this vacuum is don’t. I bought one in November and was pleased with it but it stopped working in March and I still do not have either a repair or replacement. The after care sales care is appalling and now I cannot contact them by phone or email. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE
Hi Sheila,
Thanks for your comment. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the Coredy.
Sorry it took so long to approve your comment. I wanted to give Coredy a chance to respond and hopefully fix this issue, but thus far they have failed to respond my emails.
If your experience is reflective of most consumers then I would agree, there are probably better robots to choose.
Looks great!
How can I change my order. It currently says I want 3 R550 and I am only needing 1. Help
You would need to contact the retailer you ordered from.
We received a Coredy R550 as a gift two months ago and love it But its stopped pick up, I believe there’s something wrong with it, where can I replace or exchange this unit ?
You should reach out to Coredy customer support here – https://www.coredytech.com/support/ContactSupport
Looks like it picks up everything. How very handy and nice.
We love our Coredy Robot vacuum cleaner. I have lots of hardwood and it does an amazing job of picking up! Never thought I would give my dust mop up but a Coredy will change your mind. Best investment ever. Very easy to use and clean. A must have for any home.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m glad to hear it’s working out well for you.
I have the Cordey and like vacuum performance. The mopping component is impossible. How do you keep it off rugs?
I thought that when on mopping mode it would avoid those, but are you saying you Coredy isn’t?
Coredy R500 is an EXCELLENT product, hands down. Try this product before you try any of the others
How do you contain it in a room with open doorways?
You won’t be able to.
You’ll need to upgrade to a robot that has boundaries like the Roomba 690 – https://moderncastle.com/vacuum-cleaner-reviews/roomba-690-robot-vacuum-review/
Or virtual walls via a digital map, like the Roborock S5 – https://moderncastle.com/roborock-s5-review/
