Levoit Vista 200 Air Purifier

The Levoit Vista 200 is an ultra-compact purifier that is designed to purify rooms of 161 square feet or less. It has basic features, 3 fan speeds and a sleep mode with an optional nightlight. Overall, the performance was good and it removed 79% of particulates from the air. It was able to achieve a PM2.5 of 0.5, which, while not amazing, is still a good enough for most. It is also extremely energy-efficient due to the motor (only consuming 12 watts on high speed). Check Price

Pros

  • Small footprint and small energy usage
  • Budget-friendly solution for small spaces
  • Nightlight feature is a nice bonus

Cons

  • Level 3 fan speed is quite loud (louder than the Core 300)
  • Limited area coverage
  • Filter replacement may be more frequent than expected

Levoit Vista Design

The design of the Levoit Vista air purifier mimics the look and feel of other air purifiers in the Levoit lineup.

It has a matte white body with rounded edges and controls located at the top of the purifier.

RELATED: Check out the Levoit Core 300 for one step up from the Vista 200 in terms of features, air coverage, and performance.

The bottom of the Vista 200 houses the air intake vent and the filters. It uses a brushless motor which makes this model more energy efficient than other Levoit models.

This purifier can treat spaces up to 161 square feet.

How does the coverage compare to other Levoit purifiers?

The Controls

Controls on top of the Levoit Vista 200 purifier include basic visuals for all of the features. It’s easy to simply press the setting you would like to go to.

Features and settings include:

  • Power on / off
  • Adjust fan speed (3 different speeds)
  • Change filter indicator
  • Display on / off
  • Timer (2 hr, 4 hr, or 8 hr)
  • Night mode (dims lights and runs at lowest fan speed)

The Filter

The Vista 200 uses a 2-in-1 style of filter. It is a 360° filter with HEPA filtration on the outside and activated carbon on the inside of the filter.

The manufacturer notes that the filter should last about 6 months, but many third party reviews state that the filter needs to be replaced more often than that.

There is a filter indicator at the top of the purifier that will indicate when it’s time to replace.

Things that can speed up the need to replace the filter include:

  • Running the purifier 24/7
  • Running the purifier at a high airflow speed
  • High traffic areas with higher AQI values

The Modes

The Levoit Vista 200 air purifier has four different modes:

  • 1 Speed: low fan speed
  • 2 Speed: medium fan speed
  • 3 Speed: high fan speed
  • Sleep Mode: runs the purifier at the quietest dB level and dims the lights while you sleep

One nice feature on the Vista 200 is a soft glowing nightlight at the top of the purifier. This could be especially nice when used in nurseries or other bedrooms.

There is no auto mode on the Vista 200 and no WiFi connectivity for smartphone or voice control.

Due to this, whatever mode you select, you’ll need to do so manually.

Size & Dimensions

The Levoit Vista 200 is slightly smaller than the Levoit Core 300 air purifier and is actually the smallest purifier that Levoit makes.

The smaller footprint of the Levoit Vista 200 allows it to sit comfortably on the floor or on a table top.

The exact measurements of this purifier are:

  • Width: 7.9″
  • Height: 12.9″
  • Weight: 5.03 lbs

Accessories & Parts

So it’s time to get started… what’s in the box?

The Levoit Vista 200 comes with:

  • Air purifier body
  • Base (removable)
  • Power cord
  • True HEPA 3-Stage Original Filter
  • User Manual / Quick Start Guide

Performance

To test performance of the Levoit Vista, I ran it in my personal home. I started the test by taking a baseline measurement, which provides a glimpse into the air condition without a purifier.

Air Quality Testing meter
Electronic testing meter we use to measure particulates and air quality

Then I put the Vista in the room and ran the purifier for an hour. After the test was done, I took new measurements. The difference between the two sets of numbers provided a solid picture of the Vista’s ability to purify the air.

Here’s what we found:

Starting Baseline

  • PM2.5: 2.0
  • PM10: 3.3
  • Particles: 166
  • AQI: 8

After 1 Hour

  • PM2.5: 0.5
  • PM10: 0.7
  • Particles: 64
  • AQI: 0

Overall, I was happy with the performance of the Levoit Vista 200 purifier. It did a good of purifying the air, taking the the AQI all the way down to 0 and reducing particulate by 72%.

Could the results have been better? Certainly.

Overall, it did feel like the Vista 200 was a little overworked during the tests. The 12×12 room (144 sf.) that we tested it in was approaching the max recommended room size (up to 162 sf.).

It could be that the results would be better in a smaller room or by allowing a longer time for the purifier to run.

Filter for the Levoit Vista 200 air purifier

Considering the price and footprint the Vista 200 is about what I expected at a maximum purification of 0.5 PM2.5. It’s good, but not great.

If you suffer from allergies or otherwise just want to get the absolute lowest particulates possible you should consider the Levoit LV-H134. The H134 achieved a PM2.5 and PM10 rating of 0.1 and a particulate level of 13.

RELATED What’s the best air purifier on the market?

How loud is the Levoit Vista?

When it comes to sound output, the Vista falls somehwhere int he middle. According to the manufacturer, the Vista 200 emits between 26 – 52 dB.

  • Sleep Mode: 26 dB
  • Level 3 Mode: 52 dB

I will say that, in general, this air purifier was reasonably quiet all the way up to Level 3. However, at level 3 it’s fairly loud.

Some of this could be due to the brushless motor, but either way it was definitely louder than expected.

Setup & Usability

Getting started with the Vista 200 is a simple task. There’s no WiFi connectivity or smartphone app-based control.

It truly is as simple as:

  1. Unbox the purifier and remove all packaging.
  2. Install the 3-stage filter.
  3. Plug it in.
  4. Select a fan speed (1, 2, 3, or sleep)

To access the filter and other inner components, there’s a small rotating dial that secures the base to the body of the purifier.

Maintenance

For the best performance of the Levoit Vista 200, it’s important to take care of the unit. There’s two basic tasks that you can do to keep your purifier running smoothly.

  1. Wipe down the air intake and outlet grills with a dry, lint-free cloth
  2. Replace the filters as needed, every 6-8 months as recommended by the manufacturer

To keep filter replacements easy, there’s a filter replacement indicator on top of the purifier. When the light glows, that means that it’s time to replace the filter.

Is the Levoit Vista 200 a good value?

Alright, so features, controls, and highlights aside— is the Levoit Vista 200 worth the cost?

Overall, I would say yes.

This purifier isn’t the “best of the best” and it won’t be able to handle large spaces or whole-home purification, but it’s under $100 and really did a solid job for our single room test.

As an added bonus, the Vista 200 is energy efficient.

On Level 2, it consumes approx 2 watts. On Level 3 it consumes approx. 12 watts.

COMPARISON: For comparison, the Levoit Core 300 consumes approx 45 watts on Level 3.

Should you buy the Levoit Vista 200?

I would recommend the Levoit Vista 200 if you’re looking for an air purifier with the following features:

  • Low energy consumption: If you plan on leaving the purifier running basically 24/7 and don’t want to mess with changing fan speeds, the Vista 200 is an excellent option due to its low energy consumption. On it’s highest speed, the Vista only consumes approx 12 watts, which is almost 4 times less energy than the Levoit Core 300 (a purifier of similar size and coverage).
  • Soft nightlight: Not all budget air purifiers have a nightlight included so considering the price, this is a nice features to be included with the Vista.
  • Budget-friendly: Overall, the Vista 200 has good performance for small rooms like children’s bedrooms, nurseries, or dorm rooms. If you don’t want to spend much, but want good purification of a small space, the Vista 200 could a solid option for you

Summary

The Levoit Vista 200 is a compact air purifier that works great in single-room environments, like a nursery, child’s room, dorm room, or home office. It is small and extremely energy efficient. During our performance tests, this purifier did do pretty well, with the one reservation that it was somewhat loud on speed 3. It felt a little maxed out on performance in the 144 sq. ft. room we tested it in, which may be fair since the purifier is only rated to clean up to 161 sf. If you have a larger room or have a high traffic space, you may want to consider a more powerful model.
