Setup

The setup was incredibly easy for the Mixtiles. Our image was made of multiple parts, so we started by laying them out on the ground to make sure things lined up.

From there, setup is 3 easy steps:

• Remove the adhesive tape
• Line up picture
• Place on wall

It really is that simple. Because the materials are made of a lightweight foam, they are easy to lift and readjust if needed. As an added bonus, the adhesive isn’t too strong, so adjusting the pictures won’t damage your wall.

It’s just strong enough to hold the lightweight foam backing so it doesn’t require a ton of hold. According to Mixtiles, you can adjust a picture a few dozen times before the adhesive will wear out. 

Quality

In our view, the quality of the Mixtiles breaks down into 4 major categories:

• Print
• Foam
• Adhesive
• Frames

Prints

In terms of the image on the foam block, the print quality was excellent. The images are crisp, colors are vibrant, and the print is smooth. 

However, on a few of the squares there was minimal to significant bubbling. In one case, so significant it was noticeable from a few feet away. 

Still, the majority of the prints were fantastic and looked great for the price. 

Foam

The foam quality the images are printed on is great. For the 8” x 8” tiles the foam is reasonably thick, lightweight, and durable. 

On the larger format prints the same can be said, however, the foam seems to be a little denser. This gives it greater durability, weight, and heftiness. 

Adhesive

Adhesive on the Mixtiles is pretty basic. It’s a little piece of foam with adhesive on it, covered by an easy-to-remove cover. With the cover removed, you simply press the tiles to the wall to make it stick.

The adhesive is lightweight by design so it can be easily removed without damaging your wall. This is a great design choice and one of the biggest benefits of Mixtiles, in my view. 

Frames

There are multiple frame options to choose when deciding your prints. For our smaller prints we chose an edgeless design, while on our larger prints we decided on a clean modern white frame. 

The frame on the larger print is basic, sturdy, and lightweight. No complaints there. 

Company & Website

Mixtiles as a company has been around since 2015. They started off selling the 8” x 8” Mixtiles and have expanded their options since then. 

The ordering process is incredibly simple. You choose which photos to upload, which size and configuration, and which frame. With that done, you submit your order and wait for them to arrive. 

There are multiple options to choose from including everything from single prints, gallery walls, large format, and huge wall wide collages. 

Should you buy Mixtiles?

I would recommend Mixtiles if you’re looking for the following features:

• Super simple setup: The best part about Mixtiles is how easy it is to set up. No nails, levels, or hammers are needed to add a beautiful art installation to your home. Simply remove the adhesive cover and place it on the wall. Even the larger pictures use the same adhesive allowing for easy setup. 
• Easy to move adhesive: On the back of the Mixtiles is a lightweight adhesive on a bit of foam. With the paper cover removed, the picture can be placed on most walls. If it isn’t placed right, you can easily remove the Mixtile, adjust, and replace the tile up to a few dozen times without damaging your wall. It is that easy to get the exact position you want. 
• Multiple budget friendly options: Whether you are in need of a single photo or an entire wall gallery Mixtiles has many options. Additionally, there are multiple frames to choose from allowing for the exact look you want.
