Summary
The Roborock Dyad is a vacuum designed for hard surfaces with wet and dry capabilities. The device is easy to set up, use, and maintain, all while offering good cleaning performance. In our cleaning tests, the Dyad was able to completely remove the debris as well as clean our office and studio space well. Overall, it’s an excellent wet and dry vacuum with great usability features.
Wet Cleaning Test
To test the wet vacuum functionality of the Roborock Dyad, we used the mopping feature to clean our office and studio space. The space consists of hardwood floors and minimal foot traffic.
The Roborock did a good job cleaning our hardwood floors. The 3 roller system on the bottom manages dirt and debris well. Depending on the mode chosen the Dyad will let out a moderate amount of water, but not enough to leave the floor feeling too wet.
Additionally, we performed a spot cleaning test on our tile testing floor. We used food-coloring to dye a small amount of water and poured it on the testing lane. Next, we ran the Dyad over the spill and checked how much was removed.
The Roborock Dyad did a great job at cleaning the dyed water. It was completely removed from the floor leaving no discoloration or marks.
Dry Cleaning Test
Roborock’s Dyad is capable of dry and wet cleaning on hard surfaces. Simply press a button and the Dyad will stop letting out water. The vacuum does default to the wet vacuum mode, so you will need to switch it first before dry cleaning.
To test the dry cleaning performance we used 4 different debris types on our tile testing lane, and ran the Dyad over them. We then measured how much debris the Dyad was able to remove.
For this test we used the following debris:
- Kitty litter
- Rice
- Cereal
- Sugar
It’s important to remember that while the Dyad does have a dry cleaning mode it is still not designed to clean carpets or rugs. The Dyad is designed only to clean hard surface flooring (tile, wood, vinyl, etc.) in both wet or dry cleaning modes.

The Dyad performed well in the dry cleaning tests completely removing all the debris we laid down. The soft brush rolls on the bottom are designed for hardwood floors and do an excellent job at cleaning them.
However, cleaning up after the test was more difficult. When picking up liquid or solid messes, the Dyad uses the same dirty water tank to store both. While the tank does have an internal basket to sort the larger debris from the liquid, it doesn’t do a perfect job.
After vacuuming up the dry debris I spent 10 minutes cleaning out the dirty water tank. While the dry debris basket does help, it still isn’t 100% dry. As a result, there is a mixed mess of half dry half wet debris in the basket, creating a difficult to clean mess.
Overall, the Dyad was able to remove 100% of the dry debris, but the cleaning process afterwards can be a bit of a hassle.
Noise Test
To test the noise generated by the Roborock Dyad, we used a sound meter from about 3’ away. We then ran the vacuum on the different suction modes, auto and max, as well as the dry mode, and documented the level of noise. In addition, we measured the noise generated by the self-cleaning feature of the Dyad.
Auto Mode
58.7 dB
Max. Mode
61.4 dB
Dry Mode
62.6 dB
Self-Clean
56.9 dB
While using the Dyad, the noise will range from the 58-62 dB range. This is similar to the sound of a running dishwasher. While it can be heard, it won’t be too overbearing.
The self-cleaning feature of the Dyad is a little more unique. The level of noise sits around 57 dB for the majority of the 2 minute cleaning cycle. However, there will be occasional peaks reaching 70 dB, which is closer to the sound of traffic or a running shower.
Common noise levels:
- 20 dB – rustling leaves
- 30 dB – whisper
- 40 dB – quiet library, babbling brook
- 50 dB – refrigerator, moderate rainfall
- 60 dB – normal conversation, dishwashers
- 70 dB – traffic, showers
- 80 dB – alarm clock, telephone dial tone

Usability Tests
Using the Roborock Dyad is simple. Roborock designed the vacuum to be easy to set up, use, and maintain. The cleaning head is attached via a swiveling neck that allows the Dyad to take tight corners.
However, the Dyad isn’t able to lay completely flat on the ground. In fact, Roborock states that laying the vacuum completely flat may cause leaking.
To assist with this, they have included a kickstand on the rear of the device. This allows you to easily set down the device without lying it completely flat.
More notably, the Roborock Dyad cannot stand up on its own. You’ll need to have it stored in its charging base or leaned up against a wall to stand upright.
Setup
The Roborock Dyad has a straight forward design, but still takes a bit of time to set up. It took me 10 minutes to get the Dyad from out of the box to cleaning the floor.
Here is what comes in the box:
- Roborock Dyad vacuum body
- Control handle
- Charging dock (2 pieces)
- Extra HEPA filter
- Cleaning brush
- Power cord
Assembling the device involves clicking pieces together. The control handle clicks into the vacuum body, and the charging dock does the same. Once they are assembled, you plug in the charging dock, fill up the clean water tank, and the device is ready to clean.
Controls
The Dyad has a simple 3-button control on the handle.
With these buttons, you can:
- Turn the device on/off
- Change between the different modes
- Activate a self-cleaning cycle
Generally, each button serves a specific function with the exception of the change mode button. It can also change the language of the spoken voice alerts of the device.
Display
Paired with the controls are a display that is included on the body of the vacuum. This display shows basic information like what mode the vacuum is in, and if any maintenance is required.
In addition, the display also shows the remaining battery as well as the current level of dirt the vacuum is sensing. In auto mode, the Dyad can use this information to automatically adjust the level of suction.
Maintenance
With the Roborock Dyad, there is some basic maintenance that will need to be performed. As with other mopping devices, you will need to fill the clean water tank, and empty the dirty water tank.
However, the Dyad includes some nice features to improve the experience. The Dyad gives out voice alerts for maintenance tasks that need to be completed. Another great function included is the self-cleaning option. When the Dyad is docked and charging, pressing a button starts a cleaning cycle designed to clean the brush rolls.
Occasionally, the filter will need to be cleaned and the brush rolls may need to be removed to clean tangled hair.
Beyond that, general maintenance for the Dyad is easy. The water tanks are easy to remove and the added features from Roborock are useful additions. As mentioned previously, cleaning out solid debris was more of a challenge, which is something to keep in mind.
Size & Dimensions
The Roborock Dyad is similar to the size and shape of a stick vacuum, but a little bit bulkier. Due to the necessity of the water tanks and a more robust cleaning head, the Dyad is 3-4 pounds heavier than many cordless stick vacuums we’ve tested.
Here are the exact dimensions:
- Height: 43.8”
- Width: 10.6”
- Length: 7.5”
- Weight: 11.0 lbs.
