Samsung Jet 60 Pet Review

We tested the Samsung Jet 60 Pet stick vacuum. Did it still perform well in our tests despite being an older model? Let’s find out.

Performance Tests

To test stick vacuums, we put it through a series of 6 different tests to measure cleaning performance and usability. 

These tests include:

• Cleaning test
• Hair test
• Pet hair test
• Runtime test
• Noise test
• Usability test

Cleaning Test

To test the cleaning performance of the Samsung Jet 60 Pet, we clean 4 different debris types (sugar, kitty litter, rice, and cereal) across 3 different floor types (hardwood, low pile carpet, and high pile carpet).

We run the vacuum on the highest setting, use the standard cleaning nozzle (the Jet Fit brush), and measure the amount of debris remaining by weight. Here are the overall cleaning results for the Jet 60 Pet. 

Cleaning across the 3 different floor types was good. However, the Jet 60 really struggled on the hardwood floor, most notably with cereal.

When moving the cleaning head over the cereal, the nozzle would be too low to the ground and end up pushing the cereal to the edge. If we remove cereal from the equation for hardwood floor here are the new scores:

This problem only existed on the hardwood floor, however, a problem that persisted across all floor types was clogging. With the bigger debris types, especially cereal, we had to clean very slowly in order to avoid clogging. 

Beyond those issues, the cleaning performance across the board was excellent.

Hardwood Floor

The Jet 60 Pet performed well on the hardwood floor, excluding the cereal as we mentioned previously.

With the cereal included, the Samsung Jet 60 was able to remove 74.5% of all debris, and without cereal, it removed 98.5% of debris. 

Low Pile Carpet

On low pile carpet, the Samsung Jet 60 Pet removed 97.5% of debris across all types. However, we didn’t experience the same issue with not being able to remove cereal.

This is due to the rougher surface of the carpet allowing the nozzle to get on top of the cereal.

While the cereal no longer presented an issue with the cleaning head, it still was able to clog the vacuum if picked up too quickly. Make sure to move the vacuum slowly over larger debris types. 

High Pile Carpet

As with the low pile carpet, the Jet 60 had excellent performance on the high pile carpet. It was able to remove 99.4% of all debris types across all floor types.

As mentioned previously, clogging is still an issue while cleaning larger debris types, like cereal, and it requires you to clean slowly.

Long Hair Test

For our hair test, we place strands of hair in the direct cleaning path of the vacuum. We then run the vacuum over it and check to see how much hair was removed, and if any tangled in the brushroll.

Samsung’s Jet 60 Pet easily removed all the long strands of hair from the ground. The real issue came with the tangling. There was a decent amount of hair tangled around the brushroll and it was not easy to remove. 

Once the hair was tangled, it took 5 minutes to meticulously remove the tightly wound hair. If you clean long strands of hair often, make sure to clean the brushroll after, or use the mini motorized tool, which is designed to avoid tangles. 

Pet Hair Test

Our pet hair test is similar to the long hair test. We place pet fur in the direct cleaning path of the vacuum, run the vacuum over it, and see how much is removed. For this test, we placed the pet hair on high pile carpet and ran the Jet 60 on the maximum setting. 

Since the Samsung Jet 60 has “Pet” in the name I was hoping it would do well with pet hair, and it showed solid performance in our tests. The vacuum was able to remove the majority of the hair only leaving behind a few strands.

The brushroll in the Jet Fit nozzle did an excellent job of agitating the carpet and removing strands of pet fur as it passed. 

Runtime Test

For our runtime test, we fully charge the battery, and let the vacuum run on each mode until the battery runs out of power.

Here are the results from our test:

We ran these tests with the Jet Fit cleaning head and found it similar to other stick vacuums. Samsung states you can expect the run time on the lowest setting to be about 40 minutes, which matches our testing. 

Noise Test

To test the noise of the Samsung Jet 60 Pet, we run the vacuum on high pile carpet on the different power modes and measure the amount of noise generated with a sound meter from about 3’ away.

Our testing showed the Jet 60 to have a decibel range of 43-53 dB depending on the mode. At its lowest, that level of noise is similar to the sound of a quiet library.

• 50 dB – refrigerator, moderate rainfall
• 60 dB – normal conversation, dishwashers
• 70 dB – traffic, showers
• 80 dB – alarm clock, telephone dial tone

Usability Test

The Samsung Jet 60 Pet is easy to use right out of the box. The various pieces attach and detach with ease and the device is lightweight and easy to move around. The Jet 60 can swivel around corners, and lie down almost completely flat in order to vacuum under furniture. 

It doesn’t come with a large number of accessories, but what it does come with can tackle the majority of cleaning tasks around the house.

Setup

The Jet 60 Pet is essentially ready to clean out of the box, just remove excess packaging and plastic, charge the battery, and attach the desired accessories.

Once the battery is charged the vacuum is ready to clean. More setup is required for hanging the wall mount. It comes with the screws and anchors required, however, tools will be necessary to hang it. 

Controls

Controls on the Samsung Jet 60 Pet are simple and straightforward. It uses a 3 button design without a display. The power button turns the vacuum on/off and the other buttons change the mode.

Maintenance

Maintenance for the Jet 60 is similar to other stick vacuums. The most frequent items of maintenance will be emptying the dust bin or possibly removing tangles from around the brushroll. 

In order to empty the dustbin, you need to completely remove the debris tank from the device and twist off the lid. While it isn’t difficult to do, it isn’t the most convenient way to empty the dustbin. 

Other required maintenance tasks include:

Accessories

There are a few notable accessories that come with the Samsung Jet 60 pet. These include:

• Jet Fit Brush
• Mini motorized tool

The Jet Fit Brush is the standard cleaning head for the Jet 60. It can handle the majority of the situations, however the head lies close to the ground and has trouble with larger debris types. 

With the mini motorized tool, you can reach areas too small for the Jet Fit Brush. Additionally, the brushroll is better suited to avoid tangles with long hair. 

The combination tool and extension crevice tool are fairly standard accessories with stick vacuums. The crevice tool can be extended, which is great for cleaning in deep, tight places like between couch cushions.

The wall mount can charge the battery, hold the vacuum, and store some accessories. It’s a simple design that doesn’t take much room.

The Samsung Jet 60 Pet is similar in size and shape to other cordless stick vacuums. It cannot stand on its own, but can lie down almost flat.

Should you buy the Samsung Jet 60 Pet stick vacuum?

I would recommend the Samsung Jet 60 Pet stick vacuum if you are looking for the following features:

• Budget-friendly stick vacuum: The Jet 60 Pet is one of the older stick vacuums from Samsung, because of this, it comes at a lower price. Regardless of the year it was released, the Samsung Jet 60 packs good cleaning performance. It is a great choice if you are looking for a stick vacuum on a budget. 
• Solid cleaning performance: In our testing, the Jet 60 Pet showed excellent performance. While it had some struggles with cereal, it was still able to manage the majority of the situations receiving a cleaning score of 90.4%. With a little patience, the Jet 60 can handle any mess. 
• Simple maintenance: The various pieces of the Jet 60 are easy to remove and put back together. This design is intentional and makes caring for the vacuum that much easier. Additionally, the majority of the pieces are washable.
