VASAGLE Collection

This review is going to be looking specifically at the VASAGLE collection (manufactured by Songmics), which includes an assortment of casual living pieces with a simple, rustic look.

The collection includes a variety of pieces, but the three pieces we’re going to highlight specifically are the:

• Antique coffee table
• 4-tier ladder shelf
• Antique end table

VASAGLE Design

The design of the Vasagle collection can be summed up in a few short words; simple, warm, and with straight lines.

The pieces of furniture are easy to assemble and don’t involve a lot of complicated steps or confusing parts.

In the words of VASAGLE themselves, the goal of the company is:

…to design and create affordable, flexible, and enjoyable home furniture for small spaces around the world.

Vasagle Finishes & Materials

As mentioned above, the Vasagle collection includes a number of different design pieces with different styles and finishes.

The collection we tested used a dark-wood look surface top and paired it with black iron legs and support.

What is it made of?

This collection combined powder-coated icon with wood-look stained surfaces. In reality, the wood is actually P2 chipboard, which is a lightweight, budget-friendly alternative to traditional hardwood.

Using chipboard in lieu of real hardwood saves material cost and shipping cost which ultimately means it’s less expensive for consumers.

VASAGLE Build Quality

Although the surfaces aren’t 100% wood, I have to say that I was impressed with the quality. It has a natural look to it and a realistic wood-grain pattern and color.

It doesn’t feel or look cheap, in our view.

The quality of the iron was also pretty good. There were no large chips in the paint or structural damage. Overall, the build quality feels quite good.

Furthermore, there was a nice attention to detail on the whole piece, from unboxing, through assembly, and down to the final details.

For example, the base of all the furniture pieces we tested included non-skid furniture feet which prevented the metal legs from scratching the floor.

Size & Dimensions

The Vasagle lineup is designed for small spaces and would fit well in many different spaces. It’s designed to be flexible and functional, as your needs may change.

Assembly & Setup

Unboxing and setting up the Vasagle furniture was simple. Each piece had 1-2 types of screw, depending on the piece, and had easy-to-follow instructions.

Here are a couple quick notes on how long it took to assemble each piece of furniture.

Assembly Times

• Coffee Table: 2 people, 15 minutes
• Ladder Shelf: 1 person, 30 minutes
• End Table: 1 person, 15 minutes

Each piece of furniture was packed well and included everything I needed to put together the item, including an Allen wrench for tightening the hardware.

Usability

Overall, each of the Vasagle furniture pieces we tested was easy to use. The design is so simple, it could be used for a number of different things.

Some of the points it scored in usability came down the to the following features:

• Easy to assemble
• Wipeable surface
• Sturdy base
• Easy to move
• Resistant to water (think drinking glasses… not water hose)

VASAGLE Maintence

As with any furniture, there is a degree of maintenance you’ll want to uphold in order to keep it looking its best.

• For simple dust and debris, you can wipe down the surface and legs with a microfiber cloth.
• For most stubborn or stuck-on debris, you may need a mild surface spray like Endust or Pledge.

DO NOTS: Avoid heavy oil-based cleaners as well as submerging any of the furniture pieces in water.

What if it gets damaged?

The unfortunate part about chipboard is that it can easily damage. The most common damage includes cracked corners or chipped surfaces.

VASAGLE does provide customer service to help handle requests for replacement parts. You can reach out to them directly to assist with ordering a replacement part in the event of a piece being damaged.

Is VASAGLE furniture a good value?

I would say that the Vasagle collection by Songmics is an excellent value. The materials are durable & easy to assemble. In addition, the cost is extremely reasonable.

When I see a low price on a piece of furniture, I tend to think that means build quality will suffer, but I was pleasantly surprised with this lineup.

While yes, it’s not solid wood and it does lack some detail that you would probably find in more expensive pieces of furniture.

But a simple design at a low price point is a great way to get maximum value.

Should you buy furniture in the Vasagle collection?

I would recommend the Vasagle collection if you’re looking for the following in a piece of furniture:

• Simplicity: In short, the VASAGLE furniture is extremely simple in terms of design style as well as parts and assembly. Although it only has a few parts, I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive build quality.
• Flexibility: If you’re looking for a piece of furniture that can change location, function, or use as your needs change also, VASAGLE could be a good pick for you. They have a wide range of products and design styles to pick from, but simplicity and flexibility seem to be consistent markers across the board.
• Value: The price point of the VASAGLE collection is reasonable for most households. If you aren’t sure what you want to use for furniture long term or are in a temp-housing situation, VASAGLE is a good option due to the low cost, high value model.
