My name is Kayla Hein, Creative Director here at Modern Castle. I live just outside the city limits of Tulsa, OK with my family and a handful of animals.
I have a Master’s Degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Kansas State University and have spent the last 3 years working in the digital world.
I have been a practicing Interior Architect and Designer for 7 years, working with the renowned firms including Gensler, GH2, and KSQ.
My client work primarily revolves around commercial properties (ex. hotels, schools, restaurants), however, I have done extensive residential design as well.
When I first graduated college, I pursued design with a traditional architecture firm, focusing mainly on commercial architecture and the build environment.
As my career progressed, I began to shift my design thinking to the digital world.
Taking concepts and ideas that I learned in architecture school, I now apply those concepts to a digital landscape to enhance user experience and aesthetics.
What do I do at Modern Castle?
As Creative Director, I help to curate and refine the look and feel of Modern Castle.
Everything from the digital color palette and logo to the decorations on the shelves for photo backdrops — I am constantly working to improve visual experience of Modern Castle.
I use my background in architecture and interior design to help guide design decisions and brand the site in a simple and approachable way.
Modern Castle was built to help people make informed decisions about their purchases before they drop the cash.
We’re about honesty, transparency, and looking good doing it.
My hope is that when people visit the website, they feel the passion behind the work, and can leave feeling informed, educated, and maybe even a little empowered.
