Performance Tests
Our performance tests consist of 9 different tests to measure the cleaning performance, navigational efficiency, and overall usability of the DreameBot L10S Ultra.

Our testing series includes:
- Cleaning test
- Mop test
- Hair test
- Pet hair test
- Obstacle Avoidance test
- Navigation test
- Cleaning Speed test
- Usability test
- Noise test
Cleaning Test
To test the cleaning performance of the DreameBot L10S Ultra, we use a measure of 4 different debris types on 3 different floor types. We place the debris on the floor and run the robot vacuum over it 2 times, making sure to empty the dustbin between runs.

After the robot finishes, we pick up the remaining debris and compare it to the initial measurements. Doing so, we can determine the cleaning performance of the L10S Ultra.
Here are the results:
Overall
98.4%
Hardwood
99.2%
Low Carpet
97.1%
High Carpet
99.0%
Our testing showed the DreameBot L10S Ultra to have excellent cleaning performance.
On average, based on all of our robot vacuum cleaning tests to date, we see the robot vacuums pick up 96.6% of all debris across all floor types.

When we compare it to the average, the DreameBot L10S showed better performance.
On hardwood and high pile carpet, the L10S Ultra had nearly perfect performance, leaving only minimal amounts of debris on the floor.

On the other hand, the low pile carpet cleaning performance was slightly lacking, as it left behind some kitty litter and cereal. However, low pile carpet is a common floor type robot vacuums struggle with, based on our testing.

On average, robot vacuums remove 94.7% of all debris, which makes the L10S better by comparison.
Mop Test
For our mop test, we let the DreameBot L10S Ultra perform multiple runs with the mops attached. This time, we tested the L10S in my home where we have pets, kids, and adults. We then check the mop pads and dirty water tank to see how much dirt the robot vacuum cleaned up.Â

Mopping performance was good, however it didn’t show in the dirty water tank or mop pads. We noticed after multiple runs that the docking station itself was quite dirty.
When the docking station automatically cleans the mop pads it leaves a lot of dirt behind instead of pulling more of it into the dirty water tank. This is more of a maintenance issue rather than an issue with the mopping performance itself.Â

A nice feature the mop has on the DreameBot L10S Ultra is the ability to raise and lower itself as needed. When carpet or rugs are detected while cleaning it will raise the mop pad slightly as to reduce the chance of dampening the carpet or rug.

In testing, we haven’t noticed any wet spots on our rugs, but, if that is still something you are concerned about, you can create a no-go zone or remove the mop attachments entirely.
Long Hair Test
To test how well the DreameBot L10S Ultra can manage long strands of hair without it tangling, we place long strands of hair on hardwood flooring. We then run the vacuum over the long hair on the maximum suction setting, letting it pickup all the hair.Â

After the test, we check the brushroll of the robot vacuum and see how much is tangled.
Removed?
100%
Tangled?
Minimal
The DreameBot L10S Ultra had great performance in this test. It was able to remove all of the hair from the floor while keeping most of it from tangling.

Some hair did tangle around the brushroll, but not enough to be a major issue. The brushroll is easy to remove, and it comes with tools which can assist in removing any tangled hair.
Pet Hair Test
Next, we tested how well the DreameBot L10S Ultra manages pet hair. To do this, we rub pet hair in high pile carpet and then run the vacuum over it on the maximum suction setting. We then check to see how much remains in the carpet to measure the performance.Â

Pet hair performance was good, but not amazing. After running the L10S Ultra over the carpet 2 times, I found there was still some pet hair nestled in the carpet fibers. More than half had been removed, but not enough for me to say the performance was excellent.
Obstacle Avoidance Test
For our obstacle avoidance test, we check to see how well the DreameBot L10S Ultra could avoid common objects that could be found on the floor while cleaning. The robot uses an RGB camera and 3D structured light in tandem with their AI Action to recognize and avoid objects.Â

When an object is recognized, it will mark it on the map for you to review later.
For the test, we placed a shoe, a mug, a cord, and some fake pet waste on the floor. We then ran the vacuum in that area and watched to see how well it avoided the obstacles.
Shoe
Yes
Mug
Yes
Cord
Yes
Pet Waste
Yes
In our test, the DreameBot L10S Ultra avoided all of the objects without issue. It did slightly bump into the cord, but not in such a way to get tangled or cause any issues.
However, during our larger navigational test (we will talk about that more later) we found it did occasionally get stuck. On 2 occasions while cleaning in my home, the robot got stuck on a toy and piece of clothing and was unable to return to the base.
In our more controlled setting, the L10S showed great performance, however, in our more real world testing it wasn’t quite as good. It is possible that the robot isn’t trained to recognize those objects yet and it could be fixed with later updates.
Navigation Test
For navigation, we test on a larger scale how well the DreameBot L10S Ultra can navigate floors, clean spaces, avoid getting stuck, and return to the docking station.Â
Returned to Base?
No
Fully Cleaned?
Yes
Stuck?
Yes
Navigational performance for the DreameBot L10S Ultra is lacking based on the asking price.

We ran the robot in my home for this test, which has common objects found for pets, kids, and adults across the home. On 2 occasions the L10S got stuck on a toy and piece of clothing and was unable to return to the docking station or finish the cleaning job.
I will note, it is possible these issues will be fixed with software updates that improve the navigational efficiency and object recognition.
Cleaning Speed Test
To test the cleaning speed, we measure how fast the DreameBot L10S Ultra can clean our 1,000 sq. ft. office and studio space.Â
Cleaning Area
~1,000 sq. ft.
Cleaning Time
50 – 60 min.
The DreameBot L10S Ultra was able to clean our office in 50 – 60 minutes. This is about average compared to other robot vacuums we’ve tested in the same space.
Usability Test
Overall usability for the DreameBot L10S Ultra is excellent. Setup, use, and maintenance are all fairly easy as the robot is designed to be more hands-off.

Setup
Setup takes 10-15 minutes for a single person as there are a few accessories that come with the robot vacuum.
Here is what’s in the box:
- DreameBot L10S robot
- Base station
- Side brush
- Mop pads 2x
- Mop pad holder 2x
- Multi-surface floor cleaner
- Cleaning brush
- Dust collection bag
- Power cord
- Manuals
After removing the packaging and any protective strips from the various pieces, you’ll need to make sure to attach the side brush and mop attachments to the robot. From there you can plug in the base station, and start charging the robot.

Dreametech recommends fully charging the robot before first use, as it comes only partially charged out of the box.
Before first using the robot you will need to:
- Install the cleaner bottle into the base station
- Fill clean water tank
- (Optional) Connect to the Mi Home app
Controls
Physical controls on the DreameBot L10S Ultra are fairly limited, with the majority of the features being accessible through the app.Â

There are 3 touch buttons on the robot itself:
- Spot cleaning
- Power / Clean
- Dock
These control the basic functions of the robot, cleaning in a specific location, starting a general cleaning cycle, or returning to the base.

In addition, there are 3 buttons on the base station:
- Leave
- Clean
- Dry
The leave button will force the L10S to leave the dock, while the clean button will get the robot to start cleaning the floor. If you are using the dry feature on the base station, the Dry button will toggle that on / off.
App
More controls are accessible through the Mi Home app. Setup is simple by simply following the in-app instructions.

With the app you get access to:
- Suction controls
- Mop water levels
- Maps & Map controls
- Self cleaning controls
- Scheduling
- No go zones
- Cleaning history
- Voice controls
- Remote control
- Device settings
These features, when properly set up, can greatly reduce the time you spend worrying about the robot vacuum. The app is easy to use and navigate, making it a great addition.
Maintenance
Maintenance is greatly improved thanks to the Base Station included with the DreameBot L10S Ultra. It can automatically empty the robot’s dustbin and wash and dry the mop pads.

However, as mentioned previously, the automatic cleaning gets a bit messy. After multiple self-cleaning cycles, we noticed that the washing bay was dirty and required us to clean it out manually. In some ways this defeats the purpose of the automatic cleaning station, which is to make the device more hands-off.

Overall, I still think the station improves the overall usability and does reduce the amount of time you spend with your hands on the vacuum. You will need to refill the clean water tank, empty the dirty water tank, and replace the dust collection bag as needed.

Not having to take care of the other tasks as often is a definite benefit despite the messy execution.
Noise Test
For our noise test, we run the DreameBot L10S Ultra on each mode (including a self-emptying cycle) and measure the level of noise generated with a sound meter. We measure from about 3’ away and record the results.Â

Here is what we found:
Power Mode | Noise Level |
---|---|
Quiet | 43.2 dB |
Standard | 48.6 dB |
Strong | 48.4 dB |
Turbo | 49.6 dB |
Self-Empty | 72.0 dB |
Our testing showed the L10S to have a noise range of 43.2 – 49.6 dB while cleaning, and a peak volume of 72.0 dB during a self-empty cycle.
Common noise levels
- 20 dB – rustling leaves
- 30 dB – whisper
- 40 dB – quiet library, babbling brook
- 50 dB – refrigerator, moderate rainfall
- 60 dB – normal conversation, dishwashers
- 70 dB – traffic, showers
- 80 dB – alarm clock, telephone dial tone
