Performance Tests

To test the comfort and performance of the LINSY HOME Rubik 3 Sofa, we take subjective measurements of 5 different factors. 

Performance Highlights

Bounce

Bounce for the LINSY Rubik 3 falls in the moderate to high range. The thick layer of high-density poly foam combined with the thin layer of memory foam creates a high degree of pushback that provides this level of bounce. 

Bounce in this range makes it easier to move around on the sofa or change resting positions. 

Sinkage

We found sinkage levels for the LINSY Rubik 3 to be minimal. This is again thanks to the cushion construction and material choice. 

The thin layer of memory foam offers little resistance to applied weight. However, the poly foam offers a good degree of pushback and support due to its high-density design. 

This creates a more sitting-on-top-of-the-cushion feel rather than a sinking-into-the-cushion feel like we see with a sofa like the Arhaus. Keep in mind that sinkage is a matter of preference, some people like more, and others prefer less. 

Pressure Relief

Pressure relief was moderate for the LINSY Rubik 3. The sofa has more of a firm feel with robust support. It does not have much sinkage or body contouring the way many plusher and softer sofas will have.

Support

The materials chosen for the LINSY Rubik and the design choices give it a highly supportive feel. It has a wooden frame, which feels incredibly sturdy and offers a solid base for the cushions. 

Again, the cushions, being mostly high-density foam, create a highly supportive surface to sit or lounge on. The back cushions are a little more plush, being filled with poly fiber, but overall the design is supportive. 

Firmness

Being a supportive sofa, I would consider the LINSY Rubik a firm sofa. It offers minimal sinkage and a highly supportive surface thanks to the material construction.

These factors combine together to create a firm surface, which I would put at an 8 out of 10, where 10 is the most firm. 

Assembly

Assembly was okay for the LINSY Rubik 3, but far from amazing. The actual steps to assemble the sofa were fairly simple, however, it still took a long time to actually do. With 2 people it took 2 hours to assemble the 8-seater Rubik 3 Sofa. 

That said, the Rubik 3 comes in 4 different size options, from 3-seater up to 8-seater. So setup time will drastically vary depending on how many pieces you have set up. We had the 8-seater, meaning it had the most pieces to assemble. 

In terms of actually assembling the pieces, the process is similar for each section.

• Screw leg pieces into the base of the section
• Use the provided Allen wrench to install brackets on the inside section of the base
• Place the base pad on top of the brackets of the base. 
• Use the provided Allen wrench to install brackets onto the back pieces (if applicable)
• Use provided Allen wrench to install brackets onto arm pieces (if applicable)
• Slot in back and arm pieces (if applicable) and use the remaining brackets to secure the base pieces together, forming a larger sofa.
• When finished, place the cushions on top.

The key with the Rubik 3 is the modular design. Each piece will come in a separate box with the necessary tools to assemble it. In addition, each piece is designed to be functionally any part of the sofa. This is done via slots installed on each side of the base of each section. Different pieces, like backs or arms, can be inserted into these slots creating different sections for the sofa. 

Overall, this creates a highly modular sofa, capable of being in a variety of configurations to fit the room or home. 

Design

The LINSY HOME Rubik 3 is designed to maximize the functionality and modularity of the sofa. Each section of the sofa is effectively designed to be complete on its own, but able to link up with other sections to create larger pieces of furniture. 

In addition, LINSY thoughtfully utilized the space in each section of the sofa to create storage. Each piece of Rubik 3, has functional storage under the cushion. While they can’t store a piece of the sofa itself, it does offer a good amount of room for personal items, blankets, pillows, etc. 

The LINSY Rubik 3 has a variety of options to choose from upon initial purchase. This includes variance in the number of seats and color of the fabric.

However, due to the modular nature, these aren’t hard limits. If you are willing to spend, additional pieces can be purchased as needed to add to the already existing packages. 

Legs

The legs for the LINSY Rubik 3 are unassuming and aren’t meant to be noticed. They stand 2” inches tall, are made of dense plastic, and have an optional felt pad that you can install to help prevent scratching. 

Base

Overall, the base of the Rubik 3 is excellent. Not only is it solid and supportive, being made of wood, but it also offers storage for personal use. Instead of having that space be filled, you place a thin but solid base on top of the installed brackets. This creates an area for storage while still remaining supportive. 

In addition, each piece of the base is covered in polylinen. In some places the pieces of fabric didn’t come flush together, however, it seems well secured and I don’t expect it to pull off the base any time soon. 

Furthermore, as stated previously, the LINSY HOME Rubik 3 is a modular device. This means that each piece of the base can effectively function as a seat or ottoman, depending on your needs. Two slots are available on each side of the base that different pieces of the sofa can insert into. 

Seat

The seat cushions of the LINSY Rubik 3 seem well-designed and are fairly simple pieces. The cover can be removed and washed as needed via a zipper on the bottom.

These cushions also rest freely on the base of the sofa. They use fabric on the base cover and the bottom of the cushion to provide some grip, but nothing is securing them in place. 

Internally, the cushions are constructed of a thin 0.75” layer of memory foam and 5.0” inches of high-density poly foam. These same cushions are used for the ottoman, which, in the case of the Rubik 3, is effectively a seat piece without the arms or back slotted in. 

Back

The backs of the LINSY Rubik 3 consist of 2 pieces: the actual supportive back piece and the cushion. 

The back pieces themselves are constructed of wood and seem quite solid. It’s how they connect to the base that gives me some concern. Due to the modular nature, the piece slots in and remains secured via brackets installed by the user. This gives the back pieces a little bit of wobble even when inserted into the base. 

In the short term, this doesn’t concern me too much. However, after extended and active use, I see the potential for some wear and tear.

The back cushions are plusher (relative to the seat cushions) and sit loosely against the more solid wooden back of the Rubik 3. They are filled with a poly fiber filling and the polylinen cover can be unzipped and removed for cleaning. 

While I didn’t notice any sectioning to keep the filling evenly spread, it seems tightly packed enough to not be a concern. 

Arms

Just like the rest of the sofa, the arms of the LINSY HOM Rubik 3 are covered with polylinen and constructed of wood. They offer a small amount of padding on top of your arms and seem solid across the board. 

I will note I occasionally had issues slotting in the arm pieces to the base. Sometimes the slots didn’t quite seem to fit, but I quickly fixed it by rotating the base and using different slots. 

Ottoman

While there are technically ottomans available for the Linsy Rubik 3, the reality is they are essentially seat pieces. The only difference is they lack arm or back pieces.

Because the LINSY Rubik 3 is a modular sofa, the total dimensions can vary depending on how many pieces you get. Here are the dimensions of a single section of the sofa, including the arms and back:
