Best For
- Exceptional edge and crevice cleaning with 100% debris removal
- Powerful suction that can handle both hard floor and carpeted surfaces
Considerations
- It lacks mopping features like rotating or vibrating pads and no auto-mopping maintenance
- Poor obstacle avoidance when navigating around everyday objects
Our Verdict
Roborock continues to make high-performing variants of their most popular models, and the Roborock Q5 Pro+ is another perfect example. The Q5 Pro+ is the latest from their Q series and features a new attachable mopping pad paired with their docking station. When put through our cleaning tests, the performance on the Q5 Pro+ received high scores in most categories.
However, the functionality and maintenance of the newly added mopping pad brings down the score. It lacks floor scrubbing movement and no auto maintenance feature to clean the pad, giving it little mopping functionality. Additionally, its obstacle avoidance test had very low performance in avoiding objects placed while testing.

Overall Debris Test
To test the debris removal performance of the Roborock Q5 Pro+, we put it through a series of 12 different cleaning tests consisting of 3 different floor types and 4 different debris types.
We measure 0.5 oz. of each debris type, spreading it evenly across the floor for the vacuum to clean. Next, we run the Q5 Pro+ over the debris on the highest suction power, letting it perform 2 complete cleaning cycles. After, we measure how much of the debris remains by weight and compare it to the starting amounts to determine cleaning performance.
Here are the overall results for the Roborock Q5 Pro+:
Overall
97.1%
Hardwood
99.6%
Low Carpet
95.1%
High Carpet
96.8%
In our debris tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 94.1% of debris by weight. This is 27.2% more debris than the average of 66.9%, based on all of our debris tests to date.
The dual roller on the Q5 Pro+ had no issue in capturing our testing debris, small and large.
Hardwood Floor Test
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ had exceptional performance on the hardwood surface test. However, there was a small amount of the smaller debris missed.
In our hardwood tests, the Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 99.6% of debris by weight. This is 2.5% less debris than the average of 97.1%, based on all of our debris tests to date.
When we first saw the cleaning surface area, our initial assumption was that it had collected all the debris. The remaining debris we found were small grains of litter and sugar that narrowly missed the roller and suction.
Low Pile Carpet Test
Low-pile carpet was the lowest-scoring surface area we tested. However, it still outperformed our current testing average.
In our low pile carpet tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 95.1% of debris by weight. This is 5.4% more than the average of 89.7%, based on all of our debris tests to date.
During the testing cycle, we observed the Q5 Pro+ create a less-than-ideal seal with the low pile carpet. Visually, we could see the sugar and litter stuck deeper inside the carpet.
High Pile Carpet Test
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to create a near-perfect seal with the carpet to collect as much as possible.
In our high pile carpet tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 96.8% of debris by weight. This is 6.4% more debris than the average of 90.3%, based on all of our debris tests to date.
In our opinion, the reason the Q5 Pro+ had better performance on the high pile versus the low pile is the seal it was able to create. Since the high pile is taller and able to create a better seal with suction, it could collect more of the sugar and litter that was embedded deep in the carpet.
Long Hair Test
To test how well the Roborock Q5 Pro+ manages long hair and avoids tangles, we pit it against 0.3 grams of long hair. We lay the strands of the hair on the hardwood flooring and run the vacuum over it on the maximum suction power, completing 2 cleaning cycles. After cleaning, we check the floor for hair and the brush roll for tangles.
Amount Removed
100%
Hair Tangle Avoidance
76.7%
In our long hair tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ had only 23.3% long hair tangle by weight. This is 25.9% less long hair than the average of 49.2%, based on all of our long hair tests to date.
The Q5 Pro+ was able to remove all the hair from the testing surface, however, there was some hair tangled in the roller. The dual roller scored better than the testing average, it had tangled hair near the dual roller bearings and required removal after the cleaning cycle.
Pet Hair Test
For our pet hair test, we embed 1.0 grams of pet hair into high pile carpet. Next, we run the vacuum over the carpet, completing 2 cleaning cycles on the highest suction power. Finally, we measure the amount of remaining pet hair in the carpet and compare it to the starting amount to determine performance.
Amount Removed
99.0%
Hair Tangle Avoidance
97.0%
In our pet hair tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ removed 99.0% of pet hair by weight. This is 23.4% more hair than the average of 75.6%, based on all of our pet hair tests to date.
With its dual roller, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to collect nearly all the pet hair on the high-pile carpet. It’s worth mentioning that not all pet hair and carpets are the same. We recommend watching the first cleaning cycle to see how your Q5 Pro+ handles your pet’s hair.
Edge Cleaning Test
For our edge cleaning test, we test to see how close to the edge the RoboRock Q5 Pro+ can clean. To test this, we place 0.3 oz of debris (sugar, kitty litter, and a little bit of rice) directly along the edge of the wall, to about 4.0″ away from the wall. We let the vacuum complete 2 cleaning cycles in our enclosed testing lane.
Finally, we measured in inches how close the vacuum was able to clean in proximity to the wall and how much of the debris remained by weight.
Amount Removed
98.0%
Edge Cleaning Proximity
0.5″
In our edge cleaning tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 92.8% of debris by weight. This is 5.6% more debris than the average of 87.2%, based on all of our edge cleaning tests to date.
The edge performance on the Q5 Pro+ was fantastic in getting close to the edge and removing most of the debris. We noticed that once it detected the edge / baseboard, it ran parallel to the edge, using the side brush to collect the debris.
Crevice Cleaning Test
To test the crevice-cleaning capabilities of the Roborock Q5 Pro+, we fill 3 crevices in our tile testing lane with 0.1 oz of sugar each, totaling 0.3 oz. We then let the robot complete a single cleaning cycle on the highest suction power and check how much of the sugar remains by weight to determine performance.
Amount Removed
99.7%
In our crevice tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to remove 100% of debris by weight from the crevices. This is 15% more debris than the average of 85.0%, based on all of our crevice tests to date.
With both the suction and dual roller of the Q5 Pro+, cleaning the crevice on our tile testing surface was no issue. It did an exceptional job of brushing the sugar out of the crevice and then using its powerful suction to remove all the debris.
Mop Test
To test the mopping capabilities of the Roborock Q5 Pro+, we check how well it can remove small-scale stains and remove dirt on a broader scale. In our mop test, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ showcased very good performance in dirt capture.
However, the Q5 Pro+ does not have a rotating head or a vibrating mop head pad. It’s essentially a microfiber cloth that gets wet to pick up the dirt on your hard-surfaced floor. It’s certainly better than nothing, but it’s definitely no replacement to a traditional mop and is notably worse compared to higher end mopping robots.
Navigation Test
How well a robot vacuum can navigate and clean the home can greatly impact the user experience. To check how well the Roborock Q5 Pro+ navigates, we focus on the key factors.
Cleaning Speed
41 min.
Obstacle Avoidance
No
Cleaning Efficiency
Exceptional
Cleaning Speed
Our cleaning speed test showed the Roborock Q5 Pro+ was able to clean our ~1,000 sq. ft. office space within 41 minutes.
Cleaning Area
~1,000 sq. ft.
Cleaning Speed
41 min.
The average cleaning speed we find, based on all robot vacuums we’ve tested to date is 61 minutes. The NRoborock Q5 Pro+ is 20 minutes faster than the average.
Obstacle Avoidance
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ comes with LiDAR navigation and 3D mapping to help avoid furniture and objects around the cleaning area.
To test the obstacle avoidance of the Roborock Q5 Pro+, we placed 4 objects in an area on the floor and sent the robot to clean around them. We observe the cleaning cycle, checking to see how well the robot vacuum navigates the space and avoids objects.
Shoe
Partially
Mug
Partially
Cord
No
Pet Waste
No
The obstacle avoidance of the Roborock Q5 Pro+ test was disappointing. The robot either could not see the objects and dragged them along (cord and pet waste), or it needed the front bumper to register a hit (shoe and mug). Either way, expect the Q5 Pro+ to bump its way around your home.
Cleaning Efficiency
We also test how well the Roborock Q5 Pro+ cleans on a broader scale. We have the robot perform multiple cleaning cycles in our office and studio space, focusing on 3 core requirements: can it fully clean the space, can it not get stuck, and can it return to the base.
Return to Base?
Yes
Fully Cleaned?
Yes
Stuck?
No
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ had exceptional navigational performance in our tests.
On the broader scale of cleaning, it navigated our office without issue and returned to base every time. We have film equipment, desks, and other products we test cluttering our floors, which was no issue for the Roborock Q5 Pro+ to do its job and clean.
Build Quality Test
Our build quality test is a subjective test where we examine and assess the major material and design components of the robot vacuum. Specifically, we are looking for build and design issues that are more likely to break and/or be difficult to use.
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ is a well-constructed and beautiful-looking robot combo. Both the docking station and robot are constructed out of durable plastic that has a matte black finish. Its accessories and internal parts felt sturdy and strong enough to withstand its expected life cycle and not break suddenly.
Part | Build Quality |
---|---|
Overall | Exceptional |
Body | Exceptional |
Dustbin | Excellent |
Display / Controls | Excellent |
Spinning Side Brush | Exceptional |
Wheels | Excellent |
Brush Roll | Exceptional |
Charging Dock | Exceptional |
When compared to others, it has a sleek, slim, and simple design. Its matte plastic finish, paired with dark colors, and compact docking station, makes it ideal to hide in plain sight without drawing too much attention.
Noise Test
Vacuums are loud while in operation. To measure how loud, we run them on high pile carpet on each power mode and measure the noise generated with a sound meter. Before the test, we take a measurement of the ambient noise in the room to use as a baseline comparison to the vacuum.
Power Level | Noise Level |
---|---|
Ambient | 39.7 dB |
Quiet | 56.9 dB |
Balanced | 57.8 dB |
Turbo | 65.8 dB |
Max+ | 69.0 dB |
Self Empty | 75.9 dB |
In our noise tests, the Roborock Q5 Pro+ generated 69.0 dB of noise on the max power mode. This is 0.08 dB lower than the average of 69.08 dB, based on all of our noise tests to date.
In addition to the noise that the Roborock Q5 Pro+ makes, we also measure the self-empty feature with the docking station. We measured 75.9 dB during the self-emptying cycle.
Usability
The Roborock Q5 Pro+ received a near-perfect score in usability.
Setup
The setup was simple and easy to unpack the robot. In total, setup and connecting the robot to Wi-Fi took no more than 5 mins.
