Elechomes UC5501 Humidifier Review

Today’s featured post is about something a little different — the Elechomes ultrasonic humidifier.

But what about air humidifiers?

Air humidifiers can serve an equally important function in the home, adding moisture back into the air and preventing dryness and irritation of the skin, nose, ears, and throat.

This can be especially beneficial in winter when heaters are generally running all the time, which is one of the biggest culprits of uncomfortable dryness in air.

Elechomes Humidifier Design

The deign of the Elechomes UC5501 humidifier is intuitive and straight-forward. It has a sleek, black body style with a clear water tank at the back of the unit.

Controls are located on the front, marked with white icons. There are controls for the following features:

• On / off: turns the unit on or off
• Timer: allows you to set a timer for up to 12 hours
• Sleep: enables a sleep mode where all lights on the unit are dimmed
• Max / Min: adjusts the amount of mist released (3 levels)
• Humidity: adjusts the amount of humidity released into the room (in 5% increments)
• Heating: adjustable heating levels when running warm mist cycles

There is a remote control as well which makes it easy to control the unit directly or from the opposite side of the room.

The remote has the same controls as the ones on the unit itself.

Air Output

This air humidifier can treat the air in rooms up to 750 sf. and with a full tank, it can run for up to 40 hours.

The output nozzle can spin 360 degrees and has two points of air output. You can rotate the nozzle until you achieve the air direction you’re looking for.

This humidifier has the option of warm mist or cool mist.

Warm mist can be distributed at a rate of 550 ml / hour, while cool mist can be output at a rate of 300 mL / hour.

Sleep Mode

Sleep mode is a feature that dims all of the lights on this unit as well as the digital-read display. It also limits the sound output to somewhere around 32-34 dB.

Real-Time Readings

The Elechomes humidifier has the ability to detect real-time air humidity levels and show them on the digital LED display on the front of the unit.

While it can’t automatically adjust moisture output based on current levels, it does make it easier to know when to make simple adjustments and when your settings are spot on.

How big is the Elechomes humidifier?

The Elechomes UC5501 humidifier is a medium-sized unit and would fit comfortably on most tabletops or on the floor. We have it here sitting on a bamboo sofa table (see our review of the table here)

There are no fancy accessories that come with this air humidifier. It’s as simple as “what you see is what you get”.

Is the Elechomes Humdifier compatible with essential oils?

The answer is yes.

This humidifier comes with an “aroma box” that has a little pad where you can add essential oils. You do NOT add oils directly to the water in the tank, as this can damage the humidifier and cause it to leak.

Elechomes Performance

We ran a simple in-home test of the Elechomes humidifier, and found that this humidifier did a solid job of adding humidity back into the air. We tested this unit in a large room on the first floor of the Modern Castle home.

It was easy to add water to the tank, adjust settings, and change air output direction. The water in the tank also lasted a considerable amount of time.

Due to the size of the room, it did take a good while to notably increase humidify.

However, given that we’re in the middle of the Phoenix summer that was to be expected. Once it was able to increase humidify it was able to maintain the increased levels.

As a safety precaution, the Elechomes humidifier has an auto shut-off when the tank is removed or empties.

Is the Elechomes a good value?

Based on the features listed above, product quality, and overall performance, I would say that the Elechomes humidifier is a good value.

It is not the cheapest humidifier out there, but it has a much sleeker look than many other models and is incredibly easy to use.

The remote control is a nice bonus and increased the overall usability of this humidifier.

To Sum It Up

In summary, if you’re in the market for a solid air humidifier, the Elechomes UC5501 is certainly a model to consider.

I would recommend the Elechomes if you’re looking for the following in an air humidifier.

• Want simple controls: The Elechomes unit is easy to use and the white icon controls provide high contrast against the all black body. In addition, the LED readings in bright blue really pop against the black screen as well.
• Want a remote control: If you want to be able to control your humidifier from your bed, your desk, or just anywhere across the room, the Elechomes UC5501 model could a good option for you.
• Want a large tank capacity: This humidifier can hold up to 6 liters of water in the tank. For comparison, the similarly-sized Levoit humidifier only has a tank capacity of 4.5 liters. The larger capacity allows this tank to last for up to 40 hours before needing to be refilled.
