The Tenergy electric kettle is today’s featured review. This kettle is:
- stainless steel
- holds 1.7 L of water
- has an auto shut off
- reasonably priced

We put this electric kettle to the test to see how it performed.
This guide is going to go over the performance results, as well as it’s design features, and overall usability. Let’s get started.
First off, let’s talk design.
Tenergy Kettle Design
The Tenergy electric kettle is a simple kettle with a monochromatic look. On one end is the handle, which stays cool to the touch even after heating, and on the other end is the pour spout and water gauge window.

The body of this electric kettle is made from plastic, while the interior is a 304 food grade stainless steel. There is also a 360 degree cordless base.
Kettle dimensions:
- 10.5″ tall
- 8.7″ wide
- 6.4″ deep
Just to clarify…
The base itself is corded, but there is no cord from the kettle to the base. This makes it easier to fill, pour and clean.

The inside of the kettle is also stainless steel as well as the pour spout.

How does it work?
To heat water, simply open the wide mouth lid and pour the desired amount inside the kettle. You can heat up to 7 cups of water, but you can also do less.

As a precaution listed in the manual, “too little water will cause the kettle to switch off before the water has boiled”. That said, I frequently heated water for a single cup of tea and had no issues.
To use the kettle place on the base and click the on switch. The kettle will then heat until boiling.
DID YOU KNOW: Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius or 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
Using the Tenergy Electric Kettle
Setting up the Tenergy Electric Kettle is as simple as plugging it in and filling it up. If you’re looking for a basic way to quickly heat water, it’s hard to beat the simplicity and low price of the Tenergy Electric Kettle.

If you’re looking for programmable temperatures or Keep Warm settings, this kettle may leave a little to be desired.

While boiling water can be suitable for many uses that call for warm water, other uses need something a little cooler, like green tea or other teas that are brewed below boiling temperatures.
How long does it take to boil water?
To boil 1 liter of water, the Tenergy electric kettle takes about 4 minutes and 15 seconds.
How to steep tea with the Tenergy kettle?
Many times natural teas need to be steeped at lower temperatures – like 185 or less for green teas or 205 degrees for black teas. Steeping teas at too hot of a temperature can cause the leaves to scorch or give off an undesired flavor.

To steep teas with the Tenergy electric kettle you’ll need to turn on the kettle and allow the water to heat to boiling and then wait until the water cools. To speed up this process, you can go ahead and pour the water into your tea cup or mug.
Tenergy Electric Kettle Performance
The Tenergy electric kettle performed quite well. We used this kettle every morning for several weeks for heating water for:
- Tea
- Cooking
- Cleaning
This kettle was able to boil water much quicker than expected.
As noted before, it takes around 5 minutes to boil a liter of water, however I was never boiling an entire liter for my morning tea. Instead, I was boiling about ~16 ounces of water, which took about 2 minutes to boil.
Aside from boiling water, this kettle does not have many extra features. It is designed to be a simple electric kettle with the ability to boil quickly.

Should you buy the Tenergy Electric Kettle?
On the fence about whether or not you should buy the Tenergy electric kettle? Here’s a quick breakdown on the pros and cons of the Tenergy kettle:
You should buy the Tenergy Electric Kettle if you want:
- Simplicity – Just plug it in, fill it up, and wait for boil. The simplicity of this kettle is really hard to beat if you are looking for a basic kettle to boil water
- A great value – The Tenergy electric kettle comes in at a surprisingly low price considering its performance. If you aren’t looking to spend extra for fancy bells and whistles, this kettle won’t disappoint.
- Large capacity – When full, this electric kettle can hold up to 1.7 L or around 7.2 cups of water. For an electric kettle, it’s a pretty large capacity
You should not buy the Tenergy Electric Kettle if you want:
- Programmable temperatures – Unlike more expensive electric kettles, the Tenergy kettle does not have the ability to enter in custom temperatures. It’s either off or 212 degrees, no questions asked.
- To brew tea – Many natural teas need to be brewed at temperatures below the 212 degree limit of the Tenergy kettle. Since this kettle doesn’t have a temperature read out, it won’t be able to target any temperature lower than 212 degrees so you may spend some extra time waiting for it to cool off.
- A Keep Warm setting – The Tenergy kettle also doesn’t have a Keep Warm feature. This feature can be handy when you don’t need to use all of the water at once. With the Tenergy kettle, you’ll need to reheat the water when you find yourself needing a little extra.

Summary
The Tenergy electric kettle is a basic, but effective design. Put water in, turn it on, within a few minutes it’s boiling. That’s all it does, and for most users that’s perfect. Notably doesn’t have a visible temperature gauge or any programmatic features, but the price point and heating speed helps to offset these cons.
