Best for Large Floor Plans
WINNER: Braava m6
The Braava m6 has Recharge & Resume, meaning it can run a full cycle, charge up, and continue cleaning where it left off.
It is the only iRobot mop with iAdapt 3.0 navigation (currently) which allows it to more accurately navigate sensitive areas or large floor plans. In addition, the m6 has a water tank capacity over 4X the capacity of the Braava 380t or the Braava Jet 240 which means more mopping time.
DID YOU KNOW? The Braava m6 is the only iRobot mop that has Imprint Link technology, which pairs up with the Roomba i7 or Roomba S9 and will automatically mop your floors after the vacuum cycle is complete?
Best Value
WINNER: Braava 380t
For the best balance between price and performance, look to the Braava 380t. Pice-wise, it falls in the middle between the m6 and the Braava Jet 240.
But it can mop over twice the area of the 240 model. (350 square feet on the 380t vs. 150 square feet on the 240).
It has 2 simple manual cleaning modes, sweeping or mopping and it did a great job at both during our cleaning performance tests—an average of 95% overall.
Best Budget
WINNER: Braava Jet 240
The Braava Jet 240 mop is the most budget-friendly option of this trio. It is compact in size, weighing almost half that of the Braava m6 and can sweep up to 200 sf at a time or mop up to 150 square feet.
Despite its smaller size, it still has a run time of up to 180 minutes and had a good cleaning performance during our cleaning tests.
What’s Different?
Ok, so you’ve got the high-level summary of the major points. Now let’s dive into the details of what makes each of these mops different from each other.
We’re going to highlight:
Which is the best Braava mop?
The Braava m6 scored the highest (95%) in our cleaning tests. Compared to the Braava 380t and Braava Jet 240, it’s smarter and more versatile. The tech upgrades, such as its compatibility with the iRobot app, make it more convenient and user-friendly than other robot mops.
The second best option would be the Braava 380t. It comes with a lower price tag than the m6, offering good value for the money. Plus, it doesn’t require disposable mopping pads.
Design
The overall design of each of these mops is fairly similar. They all have a square body style with a small sprayer on the front of the mop.
How does it work?
The robot mop sprays a short distance in front of the mop and then cleans in a three-pass technique of moving forward and backwards 3 times to clean and dry the damp area.
As one area is clean, it will spray a new area and use the same three-pass technique to clean until it works its way around the whole space.
What does it do when it’s done cleaning?
This varies a bit by each model.
At the end of a cleaning cycle, all of these mopping robots will stop and emit an audible alert to let you know the cleaning cycle is finished.
At that point, your next steps depend on which model you have.
- Braava Jet 240: uninstall the battery and charge it; there is no docking station
- Braava 380t: manually pick up the mop and place it vertically on the docking station
- Braava m6: can drive itself back to the charger, charge up, and keep on cleaning; no manual intervention needed
Is it a “smart mop”?
Smart home integration is hugely growing in popularity as more and more technology links together to create an autonomous system.
Are any of these mopping robots equipped to integrate fully?
The answer is yes, but it is only the Braava m6.
The Braava 380t and Braava Jet 240 are manual mopping robots meaning that you need to manually intervene between mopping cycles. In addition to manual charging, the 380t also requires you to change modes manually as well.
(The Braava Jet 240 can change modes automatically based on the cleaning pad installed.)
The Braava m6 is the smartest mopping robot in this comparison (arguably the smartest on the market) and has the most impressive list of smart features including:
- Auto Charge: automatically return to the charging dock
- Auto Modes: automatically select mode based on the cleaning pad installed
- Wireless control: control the mop remotely using your smartphone (when connected to local wifi)
- Imprint linking: Wirelessly communicate with a robot vacuum and mop after the vacuum is done (only currently compatible with Roomba i7 or S9 models.)
Size & Dimensions
Braava m6
- Size: 10 x 10.6 x 3.5″
- Weight: 4.85 lbs.
- Water tank: 480 mL
Braava 380t
- Size: 9.6 x 8.5 x 3.1″
- Weight: 4.0 lbs.
- Water tank: 120 mL
Braava Jet 240
- Size: 6.7 x 7 x 3.3″
- Weight: 2.7 lbs.
- Water tank: 150 mL
Overall, the Braava m6 is the largest mopping robot in this comparison and has the largest water tank capacity, but that also makes it the heaviest.
The Braava Jet 240 is compact, lightweight, and even has a carrying handle designed into the top of the mop for usability.
What comes in the box?
Each mop includes the same basic set of items:
- Mopping robot
- Dry sweeping pads (varies by model)
- Damp/wet mopping pad (varies by model)
- Charging device (removable battery or docking station with power cable; varies by model)
Braava m6 Parts & Accessories
In addition to the above items, the Braava m6 also comes with a small bottle of cleaning liquid and a pair of machine-washable mopping / sweeping pads.
Braava 380t Parts & Accessories
The Braava 380t comes with the above items and adds in a Navigation Cube— aka NorthStar.
This cube works as a central beacon that communicates with the mop as it cleans and helps the mop to understand where it is in the space, at all times.
Both the 380t and 240 Jet cannot make a digital map of your home, but the Braava m6 can.
You simply place it in a spot that is centrally located in the space you want to mop and the 380t will navigate around the area by continuously communicating with the navigation cube.
Braava Jet 240 Parts & Accessories
The Braava Jet 240 has the most basic set of parts and accessories, including 3 disposable cleaning pads and a battery pack with a charging base.
As a reminder, the battery must be installed from the mop in order to charge the unit.

Wet Mopping Pad
The Braava m6 cleaning pads are machine–washable and are much thicker than the pads included with the 380t or the Braava Jet 240.
It also comes with a set of disposable mopping and dry sweeping pads.
Braava 380t Cleaning Pads
Dry Dusting Pad
Wet Mopping Pad
The cleaning pads for the 380t are also machine-washable and feel like microfiber. They are thin, but they do a good job of gently cleaning most hard surface flooring.
Braava Jet 240 Cleaning Pads
Dry Dusting Pad
Damp Mopping Pad
Wet Mopping Pad
The cleaning pads with the Braava Jet 240 are disposable, and there are three different pads you can buy, dependent on what kind of cleaning you want to do.
You can also buy washable cleaning pads if you prefer.
Performance
To assess the performance of each mopping robot, we performed a series of mopping tests against 4 different types of messes— mud, honey, soda, and dry debris (sweeping).
Throughout our mopping tests, we try to give real-life examples and be as consistent and fair as possible. The mopping test procedure goes as follows:
- Measure out a small volume of liquid (soda or food-colored water) and spread across the back of the testing lane.
- Squirt honey in the middle of the testing lane, covering a majority of the width of the lane.
- Create a muddy substance from dirt and water then spread the mud with a shoe.
- Make a pass across the testing lane and compare the amount of each debris type mopped up on pass one to the untouched debris.
- Complete pass number two across the lane and analyze the amount of each debris type mopped up.
- Make a third pass, if necessary.
Braava m6
Overall, the Braava m6 basically cleaning all spill types we tested (food-colored water, honey, and mud), only leaving a little bit of the mud on the testing lane.
In addition to the washable dusting and mopping pads provided with the m6, this model also comes with a couple of disposable single-use mopping and dusting pads.
We ran a cycle to try out this mopping pad and the performance was excellent. The newly designed ridges really enhanced performance and captured the debris more effectively.

Braava 380t
The Braava 380t mop also did a pretty great job of cleaning the testing lane. It left a bit of the soda in the back corner and a few streaks of mud and honey, but overall, the performance was good.
Here’s a look at what the dry sweep pad looked like after 30 minutes of sweeping.
It captured a decent amount of debris, although larger hairs and dirt did tend to get caught at the front of the pad.

Braava Jet 240
Overall, the Braava Jet 240 did well with the mud during our mopping tets and slightly less impressive for our honey test. The soda test was essentially a failure as the amount of soda tested was just too much for this compact mop.
Here’s a quick look at what the soda test looked like when we ran it during the first test (shown below). Since the results were a bit inconsistent, we ran a second test without the soda (as shown above.)
With soda removed, the 240 performed better at cleaning the mud and honey.
The dry sweep test showed that the 240 did a decent job of sweeping the space, but not matching the performance of the 380t or m6 sweeping pads.
