Performance Tests
We put wet dry vacuums through a series of 4 different tests to measure wet and dry cleaning performance as well as usability features.
These tests include:
- Mop test
- Cleaning test
- Noise test
- Usability test
Mop Test
To test the mopping capabilities of the Roborock Dyad Pro, we cleaned our ~1,000 sq. ft. office and studio space, which is made up of hardwood floors. We cleaned with only water in the tank, however it can use the cleaning solution provided by Roborock.
After cleaning the floor, we ran a self-cleaning cycle and checked the dirty water tank for dirt and debris.
While we have a lot of foot traffic in our office from dogs and humans, the floor is still being cleaned regularly by robot vacuums. With that in mind I was incredibly impressed by the Dyad Pro. It removed a healthy amount of dirt from the floor which I had assumed was relatively clean.
During this test, we cleaned on auto mode, which uses sensors in the device to increase/decrease water flow and brushroll rotation speed based on what it senses on the floor.
Cleaning Test
To check how well the Roborock Dyad Pro handled solid debris, we picked four debris types to test it against:
- Sugar
- Kitty Litter
- Rice
- Cereal
We laid it out in the direct cleaning path of the Dyad, turned the device to floor drying mode, and cleaned up the debris. After cleaning we then measured how much of the debris was remaining by weight.
Sugar
98.0%
Kitty Litter
100%
Rice
98.6%
Cereal
99.0%
Overall, the Roborock Dyad Pro removed 98.9% of all debris by weight.
The Dyad did an excellent job handling all debris types on the hardwood floor. A key factor to this is the ability to adjust the height of the front of the cleaning head. This section is called the Splash Guard, and thanks to a small switch on the front of the cleaning head, you can raise/lower it to allow larger debris under the brushrolls.
Thanks to this feature the Dyad was able to get on top of all of the debris and remove the vast majority of it.
Noise Test
For our noise test, we ran the Roborock Dyad on each mode and measured the level of noise generated with a sound meter device. Additionally, we measured how loud it was while self-cleaning and the ambient noise levels of the room for comparison.
Mode | Sound Level |
---|---|
Ambient | 40.5 dB |
Eco | 67.4 dB |
Auto | 73.4 dB |
Max | 75.0 dB |
Floor drying | 74.5 dB |
Self-clean | 73.4 dB |
Noise levels are in expected ranges for the Dyad Pro. It can be loud enough to disrupt a conversation if cleaning in the same room, but nothing outrageous. While self-cleaning, the Dyad creates 73.4 dB of noise, however that noise level fluctuates throughout the entire self-cleaning process.
Common noise levels:
- 20 dB – rustling leaves
- 30 dB – whisper
- 40 dB – quiet library, babbling brook
- 50 dB – refrigerator, moderate rainfall
- 60 dB – normal conversation, dishwashers
- 70 dB – traffic, showers
- 80 dB – alarm clock, telephone dial tone
Usability Test
Across the board usability matches the performance we’ve seen thus far with the Roborock Dyad Pro. It’s excellent. Setting up, controlling, and maintaining the device is all quite simple, thanks to thoughtful additions from Roborock.
Setup
The Roborock Dyad Pro doesn’t come completely setup out of the box. There are a few pieces that need to fit together before the device can run as intended.
Here’s what is in the box:
- Dyad Pro body
- Handle
- Charging dock body
- Charging dock tray
- Maintenance brush
- Filter
- Power cord
After removing all of the packaging you will need to attach the base pieces and plug in the power cord to the base and an outlet. From there you can insert the handle into the body of the Dyad Pro and set it to charging on the dock.
Roborock recommends fully charging the Dyad before first use. In the meantime, you can fill up the clean water tank up top, and if you choose to do so, add detergent into the cartridge on the cleaning head itself.
Please note: Roborock recommends using their detergent and the cartridge needs to be refilled after an estimated 20 tanks of clean water.
Controls
The Roborock Dyad Pro offers simple controls and a robust display. On the handle are 3 buttons to toggle between functions of the device.
- Power: toggles the power on/off
- Change mode: switches between the various modes
- Self-clean: starts the self-cleaning process
The display itself shows the current status of the Dyad. It can show:
- Current mode
- Remaining battery life
- WiFi connectivity
- Water tank status
- Error messages
The display is easy to understand and clearly visible while cleaning.
Run Time
On eco mode the Roborock Dyad Pro has a run time of up to 43 minutes.
Maintenance
Overall maintenance is fantastic thanks to the self-cleaning features the Dyad Pro offers. With the press of a button or from the app you can:
- Balanced self-clean
- Deep self-clean
- Silent dry
- Fast dry
These self-maintenance features reduce the amount of time you spend cleaning the device instead of the floor.
There are still things that you will need to take care of such as emptying or filling the water tanks, cleaning the filters, and other less frequent tasks. In addition, Roborock still recommends cleaning the brushrolls manually, but this can happen less often thanks to the self-clean features.
Size & Dimensions
The overall dimensions of the Dyad Pro are about average with what we’ve seen from wet dry vacuums. It can’t lay down completely flat and the cleaning head won’t fit under every piece of furniture. But, the device is easy to move around thanks to the fairly lightweight design.
Here are the full dimensions of the Dyad Pro:
- Width – 12.2”
- Depth – 10.6”
- Height – 43.7”
- Weight – 10 lbs.
