Outside of the vacuum world, Dyson has also made a name for themselves with fans.
For heating or cooling, Dyson has you covered with bladeless, remote control, sleek, modern comfort.
Best Dyson Fan

Dyson AM07 Fan
The Dyson AM07 remains one of the most popular Dyson fans due to its lower price point, performance, and style. This tower fan can cool larger or smaller rooms and has a max air flow of 500 l/s. It also includes a remote control and 10 different air flow settings.Check PricePros
- Bladeless. Dyson fans are entirely bladeless which makes them safer in homes with pets or small children. They are also easier to clean and can simply be wiped down.
- Remote Control. All current models of Dyson fans come with a remote control for improved usability.
- Wifi Connectivity. The more advanced models with Link technology can be connected to your wifi network and controlled via your smartphone or even voice control when partnered with a voice control hub (like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.)
Cons
- Expensive. It’s no surprise that a Dyson fan is going to be much costlier than a traditional box fan. But as with most things, you generally get what you pay for.
- Limited Tilt. The way that the Dyson fans are designed, there are only a few select models that come with “tilt” capabilities. If you’re looking for a fan that can point air at a specific location, the Dyson lineup may not be the best option for you.

Types of Dyson Fans
Dyson offers three different fan technologies that sometimes overlap in any given model of Dyson fan. These three distinctions include:
- Air Multipliers
- Pure Cool collection
- Dyson fans with Link technology
Read below for a quick summary about what each technology does.
Air Multiplier
The Air Multiplier fans are slightly older than Pure Cool or Link fans, but still powerful. They rely on the same bladeless technology for a smooth, steady airflow stream. Some of the most popular Air Multiplier models includes:
- Dyson Cool AM06 Air Multiplier Desk Fan
- Dyson Cool AM07 Air Multiplier Tower Fan
- Dyson Cool AM08 Air Multiplier Pedestal Fan
- Dyson Cool AM10 Air Multiplier Desk Humidifier

Jet Focus
Jet Focus technology allows the user to adjust the air stream from a wide-angle for whole rooms or a tight stream for a direct hit. Dyson currently only offers one fan with Jet Focus and that is the AM09.
As an added bonus, the AM09 can be used for hot or cool air conditioning.

Pure Cool
The Dyson Pure Cool lineup is a series of fans that also double as air purifiers.
The Pure Cool technology has a special UV lighting system that disinfects 99% of bacteria in the water before dispersing it into the air. The Pure Cool fans/purifiers includes the following models:

Link
Dyson Link technology includes the only fans that can be connected to a wifi network and powered using your smartphone. The two models that currently have the Link technology also fall into the Pure Cool series since they double as fans and air purifiers.
The Dyson Link app is designed to include the following information for quick reference:
- Purifier Activity
- Filter Life
- Remote Control

Dyson fans with Link technology include the following models:
Dyson Fan Design
The design of Dyson fans is fairly consistent across the board.
Bladeless Fans
All Dyson fans are bladeless, making them a safe alternative for homes with pets or children. The bladeless design also means a more consistent airflow.
Desk vs. Tower Fans
Dyson has a few older models that fall outside of this scope, but for the most part, Dyson fans are either smaller desk / table fans, or upright tower fans. Desk fans are great for personal heat or cooling while tower fans are more suitable for whole room conditioning.

Quiet Noise
Without blades, it’s important to mention that these fans are surprisingly quiet. Remember the “Fan” setting on your old sound machine? That is a far cry from the sound of a Dyson fan.
Modern Aesthetics
The aesthetics of a Dyson fan is simple.

The opening where air flows is either taller or shorter (depending on if it’s for a desk or tower fan), but fairly consistent in width. Exact colors may vary by model, but generally these fans come in a monochromatic or 2-tone combination of the following colors:
- silver
- white
- black
- blue
- copper

Dyson Fan Quality
The quality of a Dyson fan is consistent with the quality of most other Dyson products.
Are they expensive?
Absolutely. But the parts and design are made to last with high quality and intentional design.

Dyson Fan Usability
For usability, Dyson fans do a pretty good job, but there are a couple things you may want to consider.
First off, they’re bladeless so they’re really easy to clean, but be sure to do it regularly using a dry cloth or a vacuum with a soft dusting brush (Dyson’s V10 vacuum would be perfect, in addition it’s also fantastic as hardwoods…see our hardwood floor vacuum comparison here). If needed, you can use a damp cloth (and that is what the manufacturer recommends), but do so with caution.

Some third-party reviews note problems with dirt collecting if the cloth is too damp. Specifically, that it can result in the airflow intake holes becoming clogged by allowing the dirt and water combination into the holes, preventing operation.
What about fan operation?
In terms of actually operating the fan, there are a few key features that make Dyson more user friendly.
Remote control
The remote comes with all current Dyson fan models and allows you to oscillate and adjust the speed of the fan. There is a magnetic back to the remote so it can be easily stored on the fan itself, when not in use.
A Warning: Be careful not to lose this control; without it the fan cannot adjust speed or oscillate, as the fan body itself only has a manual on/off control.

Support
Already lost the remote? Have no fear, you can buy a replacement remote here.
Link technology
The Link technology on a few of the advanced Dyson fan / humidifier combos is great for usability since it virtually eliminates the need to have the physical remote, as long as you have your smartphone. Using voice control, you can even turn the fan on and off with a simple verbal command.

Target Temperature
Many Dyson fans also have the option to set a desired target temperature, in addition to the 10 preset speed controls on the remote control. With target temperatures, the fan will acclimate to a set temperature and once it’s there, it will shut off or turn on again as necessary.
According to Dyson:
In Heat Mode, the machine is set to a thermostatically controlled target temperature, the machine will continue to push out warm air until the room reaches this temperature, then the warm air will switch off. When the room temperature drops below the target temperature, the machine will start to warm the room again.
In Cool Mode, the machine is not thermostatically controlled and functions essentially as a powerful fan, circulating room temperature air. As it does not contain refrigerants or drip trays which are required for air conditioning, it is physically unable to reduce the room to a colder temperature, but will feel cooler due to the air movement.
Dyson Fan Value
In terms of value, it is no surprise that Dysons are expensive. I think the overall value of a Dyson fans lies heavily on the value of aesthetics to you.
Hate ugly fans?
Traditional fans can be distracting, not only due to their louder operation, but also because of their bulky design.
Dyson fans are different in that they have an ultra-modern aesthetic. They are a far cry from the traditional fan and almost look sculptural, by comparison.
That being said, if you’re looking for the absolute best air movers on the market, there may be other fans that can compare with a Dyson or even offer more air movement at a lower cost. What you’ll likely give up is the modern aesthetic and bladeless, safer design.
However, the pro:
But you’ll gain some extra cash in your pocket, and that’s certainly a value add to many consumers.
Best Dyson Fans
The following features products are some of the Best Dyson fans, also listed briefly in the table above.
These fans span a range of large and small, wifi-enabled and manual, and come in a variety of different colors.
Dyson AM06 Cool Air Multiplier Desk Fan
The AM06 Dyson Desk Fan is a compact Dyson—good option for a small fan that can easily sit on a table or desk. Summary
As we’ve reviewed, Dyson has a wide range of fan options, varying in price, capability, and size.
Dyson fans are one of the most expensive fans on the market, no question, but with the high price tag comes high performance and high quality.
Not sure what to do?
If you’re on the fence about whether or not a Dyson fan is right for you, I encourage you to ask yourself a few questions.
- What do you want out of a fan?
- Do you care what it looks like?
- Are there features that are on your “must have” list?
Decide which factors are most important in a fan and go from there.
I would recommend a Dyson fan to people who are most interested in the following factors:
#1. You want a sleek, modern fan.
If the way it looks is top priority to you, it really is hard to beat the look of a Dyson fan.
Dyson fans have few similarities to traditional fans in terms of aesthetics. If the thought of putting a traditional fan in the corner of your favorite room makes you cringe, you may be willing to spend the extra cash on a Dyson fan.

Top Recommendation: Dyson Air Multiplier AM07 Tower Fan
#2. You want a safer fan.
All Dyson fans have a bladeless design making them a safer alternative to traditional fans. For homes with children or pets, bladeless fans are great options since they don’t have choppy blades.
For cleaning:
In addition to being safer for little fingers, Dyson bladeless fans are also easier to clean. Simply wipe down with a dry or damp cloth, or vacuum with a soft dusting brush attachment.

Top Recommendation: Dyson Air Multiplier AM06 Table Fan
#3. You want a dual-mode fan.
Some Dyson fans have the option of operating dual modes. This means that it can circulate air in the warmer months and warm air in the cooler months, keeping you comfortable all year long.
As an important note:
Dual-mode Dyson fans are not designed to actually cool air. Instead they circulate air, which in turn, makes the air feel cooler. However, when in heating mode, these fans do have a heating element that can heat the air temperature to a target degree and circulate the warmer air.

DID YOU KNOW: Why do old heaters always seem to have that burning smell? Because it’s burning dust! The heating element inside a Dyson heater will never reach above 392 degrees, which is the burning point of dust.
Top Recommendation: Dyson Air Multiplier AM09 Fan / Heater
#4. You want a fan that addresses asthma or allergies.
Dyson offers a special lineup of fans that double as humidifiers and are able to treat the air and eliminate 99.97% of air-borne bacteria.
How does it work?
These fans have a compartment at the base which holds water and a UV light. Using this light, the fan treats the water to eliminate bacteria prior to circulating it around the space. These are sensors designed into these units that are continuously testing the air quality.

When it dips below a safe level, the unit will kick on and get to work.
Top Recommendation: Dyson Pure Cool Link Air Purifier
#5. You want a remote control fan.
All current Dyson fans come with a remote control that easily controls the power, speed, and oscillation of the fan. The remote control also is magnetic, with a curved body, which allows it to easily be stored at the top of the fan.

If you’re looking for even more wireless control, you may want to consider a Dyson fan with Link technology. These fans can be connected to the Dyson Link app and controlled directly from your smartphone or even voice control using Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.
Top Recommendation: Dyson Pure Hot + Cool Link Air Purifier
