The Tenergy Solis meat thermometer is a modern app-enabled approach to better cooking.

Today’s blog post is going to be taking a closer look at this compact kitchen accessory to see how you can better monitor internal cooking temperatures.

We’re going to be looking at the overall design of the Tenergy meat thermometer, analyze its performance and usability, and finally we’ll put it to the test helping us to cook a batch of bratwursts.

Let’s get started.

Design

The design of the Tenergy meat thermometer consists of 6 individual thermometer meters, and one digital read-out screen. The Solis Thermometer comes with 2 probes, with space for 6 different colored monitors.

You can add up to a total of 6 probes, which can then be placed in 6 different dishes or put them in 6 different places around the same main entree to test the temperature of multiple points.

Additionally, the Solis thermometer includes a hard carrying case.

Can you leave the probes in the oven?

Yes, that is basically what they’re designed to do. You just plug the probes into the food when at the beginning of the cooking process.

As the heat rises, it will increases the internal temperature of the meat. Having the probes in the meat during the whole cooking process helps to know the exact right time to take the food out of the oven.

Can you leave the probes in an outdoor grill?

Yes and no – the Tenergy Solis meat thermometer is approved to temperatures up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit (the temperature that the colored silicon handles can take before melting.

For most grilling with an open lid, that would be just fine. However, when grilling with a closed lids temperature scan reach much higher (up to 500-700 degrees Fahrenheit) which can melt the probes.

In-App Readings

The readings are displayed on the main digital display or in the app.

  • Bluetooth connection

On the app, there are 11 preset temperatures for different meals you might be cooking.

Presets include:

  1. Beef
  2. Veal
  3. Lamb
  4. Pork
  5. Chicken
  6. Turkey
  7. Fish
  8. Hamburger
  9. BBQ Smoke
  10. Hot Smoke
  11. Cold Smoke

This can help to make sure that the meat is cooking at just the right temperature and not a moment too long.

Using the Solis Meat Thermometer

Setting up the Tenergy Solis meat thermometer was easy. The steps below outline the process that we followed when testing out this meat thermometer.

  1. Downloaded the app to my smartphone.
  2. Installed batteries into the thermometer
  3. Turn it on and plug in the probes.

Tenergy Solis Performance

The Tenergy Solis thermometer’s performance was exceptional.

In order to test the thermometer, we cooked up a batch of brats and used the thermometer to judge when they had reached the appropriate temperature.

In order to cook the sausages at the right temperature, I took a look at the Tenergy Solis smartphone app and saw that they needed to reach an internal temperature of 145° Fahrenheit (the same temperature the CDC recommends.)

From there, I began cooking the sausages and when I felt they were done, I reinserted the probes to check the internal temperature.

After doing so, I found that the sausages were sitting at 201°, which meant they were way past the mark of being properly cooked through.

One of the cool features I found was this thermometer’s ability to alarm you when foods reach a certain temperature.

This is neat because you now have the option of stepping away from your food, if need be, and coming back when it is properly cooked through.

All things considered, the Tenergy Solis thermometer is easy to use and performs quite well. We don’t have a ton of experience testing food thermometers here at ModernCastle.com, nevertheless, we definitely like the Solis.

Should you buy the Tenergy Solis Meat Thermometer?

On the fence about whether or not you should buy the Solis meat thermometer?

Here’s a quick breakdown of the pros and cons of the Tenergy meat thermometer:

You should buy the Tenergy Solis meat thermometer if you want:

  • Wireless control – If you’re looking for a meat thermometer that you can monitor directly from your smartphone, the Tenergy is an excellent option. It is wireless, has an easy to use app, and is quick to setup.
  • Target temperature – The Tenergy offers 11 presets of targeted temperature for different cuts of meat or you can set a custom temperature. For each meat, you can also specify a level of “doneness”, from rare all the way to well done.
  • Multiple probes – If you like cooking more than one type of meat at a time, or want to monitor different areas of the same piece of meat (like a large turkey), it can be handy to have multiple probes to work with. Each probe can be set to a different target temperature for perfect cooking times for each item.
