Tenergy is a home product company. In 2018 we tested their electric kettle, digital meat thermometer, heater, and robot vacuum.

Today we’re taking a look at their Tenergy T20 wireless earbuds.

Wireless headphones can be great for working out, running errands, or really doing anything where you don’t want the bulk and weight of over-the-ear headphones.

This review is going to be putting these little earbuds to the ultimate test where we’ll be taking a look at design, usability, and overall performance in a real life scenario. There’s a lot to cover so let’s dive in.

First, let’s talk about design.

T20 Earbud Design

The design of the Tenergy wireless earbuds is sleek and simple. They are black and red and have a thin wire that connects the two buds together for paired audio throughout each earbud.

Are these earbuds waterproof?

The Tenergy T20 headphones are waterproof (certified IPX7) and can protect from:

  1. Sweat
  2. Water (splash)
  3. Submersion in water (up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes)

Aesthetically, these earbuds are pretty sporty also. They have a flexible loop that circles over the top part of your ear to help hold them in place with accents of an orange-red in the cord and earbud itself.

How long is the battery life?

With a full charge, these earbuds can run for up to 8 hours. In standby, that run time is around 240 hours. The Tenergy wireless earbuds are charged via micro-USB  and take approximately 1-2 hours for a full charge.

How do they fit?

The Tenergy T20 wireless sport earphones are designed to fit a variety of users.

The loop at the top is flexible and made to bend. The bud that fits into the inner ear comes in three different sizes—small, medium and large (all 3 are included). These silicon earbuds are easy to pop on and off if you decide you need a different size.

How do you set up the T20 wireless earbuds?

Setting up the Tenergy T20 earbuds is simple.

  • Fully charge
  • Put your desired inner ear covers on (one-time)
  • Connect via Bluetooth to your phone or other device

Once charged, you can pair the earbuds to your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0 (or later) and stream music directly into their earbuds wirelessly or use them for hands-free phone calls.

Are the Tenergy headphones noise-cancelling?

No, they are not. However, they are noise reducing.

Let’s talk about the difference.

“Noise-cancelling” headphones have some type of technology that transmits a noise that counteracts the offensive noise, like a jet on a plane or loud crowds on the subway. The Tenergy T20 sports earbuds are not noise-cancelling.

But they certainly are “noise reducing.” The earbud portion comes in three different sizes (small, medium, and large) when helps to ensure a snug fit in your ear.

The flexible piece helps to block any additional sound from coming in, besides what is being directed from the speaker itself.

Tenergy T20 Performance

After using these earbuds for a little over a week, we were fairly impressed.

Both my cousin, Chris (also the ModernCastle camera man), and I used them in a variety of different scenarios, including, wearing them at the gym, out for a jog, in a busy restaurant / public place, and more.

These headphones also include a sporty armband

Tenergy T20 vs. PowerBeats Earbuds

Chris also owns a pair of the wireless PowerBeats headphones that are similar in overall design compared to the Tenergy T20 headphones.

Sound quality was the biggest difference. The PowerBeats are definitely better. However, they are also about $100 more expensive. Beyond that, the overall design and usability was similar.

The Tenergy T20 headphones sound great, but Chris noted:

“As you turn them up to a loud level of music streaming the quality can be a bit spottier, as compared to the PowerBeats.”

That said, we do think that for the price of these Tenergy headphones, it is going to be hard to beat the level of quality and performance you’re receiving.

Should you buy the Tenergy wireless earbuds?

Still trying to decide if the Tenergy T20 wireless earbuds are right for you? These earbuds are Bluetooth-enabled, sweat-proof, waterproof, and workout-proof.

They are reasonably priced and although it may have some setbacks in terms of voice quality when taking calls, it still has a lot to offer.

You should buy the Tenergy wireless earbuds if you want:

  • Wireless+ waterproof earbuds – These earbuds are excellent for people on-the-go or who love to exercise. They are wireless and water-resistant up to 1 meter below water or for 30 minutes.
  • A great value – The price point of the Tenergy is surprisingly low considering all the convenience features that these earbuds have to offer.
  • Smartphone control – The T20 earbuds can be controlled directly from your smartphone when paired with Bluetooth 4.0 or greater. Pick a playlist, play music or videos directly off of YouTube, or take a phone call. As long as your phone is within range, you’ll be able to control the headphones from your smartphone

You should not buy the Tenergy wireless earbuds if you want:

Excellent voice audio– For streaming music, we found the Tenergy wireless earbuds to be top notch, but performance was lacking a little when it came to voice audio during phone calls. When streaming music, the clarity was above average.

Summary

The Tenergy T20 earbuds are inexpensive, offer pretty good sound quality, and come with a ton of accessories. Are these comparable to $200 earbuds? Definitely not. That said, for the money they really offer an incredible value. The design is comfortable, they are easy to use, and the sound quality is more than passable for their purpose (working out, short listens, travel, etc.). A solid product overall.
